Death Mask (The Dresden Flies: 5 )

Aforementioned

It has not been too long since the huge battle between the two Fairy Queens eventually came to an end.

Harry Dresden was trying to catch his breath of a peaceful life before another supernatural misfortune stuck him.
But who are we talking to?
Sometimes I want to name Harry, Loki, "God of Misfortune!"

Retrospectively, our Harry cannot live too fortunately for a longer time. Hence the moment, he settles down with Summer Knight, another more dire and nasty problem comes running knocking on the door.
Did I say problem?
Hell no!
Cannot be singular, the problems come around in a group, with companies of each other!
And there start... Death Mask

Book Summary

Murphy found a viciously, degenerated mysterious dead body in the municipal area.
She then sent it to forensic where with Harry she confirmed with the forensic team that the dead person had died of disease.
To be precise, diseases; multiple diseases.
Deadly, nasty, contagious diseases that are scientifically proven to be extinct from the earth affected that dead person and blew out each of the diseases, coming to the terminal phase at the same time!

Before he could ponder more, he faced Paolo Ortega, one of the deadly threats of Red-court.
He came to Chicago inviting Harry to a duel as a "peace truce" between "the Red Court" & "the White council". Certainly not keeping a chance for Harry to refuse as Ortega is determined to kill Harry in a " fair" fight!

And needless to say, to make these situations even worse demonic denerians appeared with more frightening demand!
Even though Michael forbade Harry not to get involved this time because every one of these simultaneous incidents is arranged to target nothing but Harry.

The dangerous part is, not to KILL him but to overpower and MANIPULATE him, which is worse than death.
But when is our cute Harry playing safe?

A little Chit-chat

First thing, I rejoiced and savored the moment when Harry Dresden thought "I don’t hate this man anymore!"
And immediately he cursed himself when he was referring to Johnny Marcone!
It’s like a feisty girl forcefully denying the fact that she fell in love with an enemy! 😆

At first, it seemed compared to the story, it is wrapped rather quickly.
But later after reading when I played it in my head like a revision, I realize it was not. Maybe a little earlier, yes but could not have been longer.

Though there was not much of our Harry-Karrin humor that I missed.

The demonstration of invincible Nicodemus to the point of such primitive demonic existence.
I believe till now the story has matured to a certain level. And Nicodemus (the Venetian) had dropped an exciting hint too.

Let's see what awaits in "Blood Rites"
