GETTING STARTED WITH THE SPLINTERLANDS GAME.

in BDCommunity2 months ago (edited)

The Splinterlands game is one of the few interesting games I've played on hive. Although I do not play a lot of games, I’ve just been too addicted to soccer games before I started playing Splinterlands, and I must admit, the Splinterlands game is very interesting, I will personally put it in number 2 of my top 5 most loved games. I started playing Splinterlands about a month ago, to be honest, I'm still trying to wrap my head around a whole lot, but if you are a newbie like me and you are wondering why you should try out the Splinterlands game or continue apart from the fact that it's a play to earn game, then you should follow this post to the end.

Starting with the registration process which is nothing technical at all, you just need to sign up, (You can click here to sign up). Ensure you sign up with keychain so you can be able to buy something called SPELL BOOK for 10HBD which enables you to play the game. I know as a newbie it's easy to say this game is too complex and just abandon starting at all, so I will try to explain and break down the entire playing process as much as I've come to understand it. When you understand the basics, it will be easy to play and master. In the one month I've been playing the game, I've understood that no one knows it all, and those who have mastered the game today weren't so good at it in the beginning. The idea is just to keep practicing, do not be scared to lose, once you master it, you find it very interesting.

The first thing to know about the game is understanding that it is a game of tactics and strategy, and like every tactic and strategy, it takes a continuous working process to master and execute. I mentioned earlier that buying the spell book enables you to play the game, so this is how it works. Splinterlands is a game of cards, and your first set of cards is found inside the spell book you've purchased. The splinter lands kind of cards are not your conventional kind of cards, I like to call them war cards because the truth is you will be fighting with those cards, and your winning is dependent on your war strategy. If your opponent uses a better strategy based on how they arrange their cards from first to last, they win and if you can place your cards right, you win. But before you know how to place those cards, you must understand how all the cards work.

This is where it begins to get interesting, there are majorly two kinds of cards, the Summoners cards, and the Monster cards. These two have different types of cards under them. So if you head on to play the game, the first set of cards you will be allowed to pick is your summoner. Your summoner determines your battle strategy to a very large extent. I like to call it the parent card, while the monsters are the children birthed by their summoner. So when you choose your summoner card, you are to pick a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 7 monsters for the battle. So if you want to start practicing, start by learning about your different summoners and their capabilities. When you have learned about the Summoners, then it will be a lot easier to understand how their monsters work. In doing this you would have successfully created your battle strategy and pray it works lol. Anyway, if your strategy doesn't work the first time, just learn from your mistakes and improve in the next battle

Another thing that is vital to understand about the game is the elements. Understand that every Summoner and monster functions according to the elements they possess. In the Splinterlands game, there are six elements which are; Fire, water, life, dragon, death, and earth. Your summoner card has at least one of these elements, and your monster card functions according to the summoner elements. It's okay to see one monster under different summoners, this is because the monster has different abilities. If for example, you decide to play a death Summoner card, don't be surprised when you see a fire monster under the Summoner card. This is because that monster can kill with fire.

Lastly, you need to understand the rule set of the game you're playing so you can choose the best Summoner that fits into that rule, and also choose the monsters that would follow suit. understanding the rule set begins with something called the mama cost (You should see it clearly written) the manner cost determines the number of monsters you're to use. There are a number of levels allocated to the Summoners and monsters, and you can not choose more than the allocated manner for the game. So when you set your battle strategy consider how much manner that has been allocated to that game. Again know that every monster functions according to certain rules and abilities, and if you study about the monsters, you will understand the rules they function by.

The rules they function by and their abilities include the following; speed, health, attacking mode, melee, attack, range attack, and magic attack. Once you can understand how to use their abilities, you will be mastering the game in no time. Now imagine I'm in a battle and my monster possesses abilities that give speed and health, and then my opponent only has shields, you will see that while my opponent's strategy is defensive, I'm on the offensive with an ability to heal when I get wounded. Now that's what is called a game of strategy, and if this doesn't sound interesting, I wonder what the hell you are doing 😂.
