My favourite childhood book is Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, one of the stories compiled in "The Thousand and One Nights". It's a fascinating story about a young boy who discovers the place where a gang of thieves keeps the jewels and other wonders they have stolen. To open the door of the cave you have to recite the magic words "Open sesame" and you are immediately inside, but young Ali is not ambitious, unlike his brother who ends badly because of his greed.

It's a story with a high ethical sense that teaches us the value of honesty, since Ali Baba instead of wanting to keep the wealth that the thieves had accumulated, he only told his wife, but Ahmed (Ali's brother) was a greedy man who after listening to his brother and especially the magic words, went to the cave to steal part of the fortune, and then squandered the money on parties, instead of alerting the authorities to catch the thieves and make them give back what they had stolen.

I remember my mum once gave me this book as a present and I was absolutely fascinated when I saw it. The first thing that caught my attention were the illustrations, beautiful and completely in colour, they were very useful to help me immerse myself in the story. And the other aspect that also caught my attention was the large print.

When you are a child and you are learning to read or have just learned to read, it's very important to find these elements when reading a book, because it's easier for you to read and therefore you are drawn into the story, which in turn will help you to be a potential reader as the years go by.

I still have this book in very good condition because it represents an important part of my childhood and also because it was my beginning as a reader and future writer, since reading at an early age stimulated my imagination and creative capacity. From reading so much there comes a time when some people want to go further and create their own alternate worlds.

That's all for today, thank you very much for your attention, I would love to read the other entries to find out what are your favourite childhood books or stories.

Este fue el cuento favorito de mi hijo mayor, me hacía leerlo todos los días, hasta que aprendió a leer y lo hacía sólito. Me trae muchos recuerdos este cuento.
