Gideon had always read about cases online where people ended up spending years in prison for crimes they didn't commit but he never thought such an ordeal would almost happen to him too.
It all started after he turned down Stacy's proposal.
Stacy was a beautiful young lady who had a lot of men at finger tips. She often brag to her friend how no man was able to resist her. It was one this days during her usual bragging that Tayo, Stacy's friend decided they needed to put her beauty to the test. They were going to pick out a man and Stacy was going to make him become her boyfriend before a month. Stacy had bragged that a month was too much as the guy would be eating out of her hands in no time, that guy was Gideon.
Two weeks later after she "mistakenly" bumped into Gideon on his way out they both became friends. At first, Stacy played cool. She knew it was only but a matter of time before he would come begging her to be her boyfriend but after two weeks, Stacy was convinced that wasn't going to happen anytime soon, she was running out of time.
“Maybe he's just shy” she thought one evening as she was getting ready to go his place. “I guess I have to make things easy for him then” Stacy concluded before stepping out of her apartment.
Gideon had received a wonderful news that he couldn't wait to share with Stacy. He had finally been accepted into Harvard University and he was so happy about it. As a matter of fact, that was the main reason why he had asked her to come over to his place, so that they could both celebrate the good news.
At exactly 6:47 pm, his door bell rang and he quickly rushed to go open the door for Stacy. She was looking breath taking as always.
He knew the only reason why he hadn't asked Stacy to be his girlfriend was because he was waiting to know if his application into the school would be accepted or not. He didn't want a situation where she would be left heartbroken because her new boyfriend had to leave her for the states. And he was glad he had kept his feelings to himself.
“Wow! You look astonishing” Gideon complimented her as she walked in.
Stacy smiled, her plan was working. “Thank you, you're not looking bad yourself”
“Thank you M'lady” Gideon replied jokingly and she laughed.
“ There's something I want to talk to you about” Stacy decided there was point wasting anymore time, she had promised the girls that by this time tomorrow, Gideon was going to be her man.
“What is it?”
“I like you Gideon and I would love it if we could take our friendship to the next level. Gideon I want you to be my boyfriend” Stacy felt weird saying all of that as this was her first time trying to woo a guy but she needed to win that bet.
“Ermm I like you too Stacy but you see I can't date you. You see the reason why I invi..”
“Wait..what?” Another strange feeling, was he about to give her her first rejection? “Are you turning me down??!!” Her voice was getting a little bit high now.
“No, it's just I got admi..”
“Oh please keep your excuses to yourself. I promise you, you will regret ever knowing me” Stacy said before storming out of the house.
Gideon was shocked. He didn't know how the whole thing escalated so quickly and he would have ran after her but he could already hear her driving out.
After the incident in his home, Gideon tried calling her but she refused to answer. He decided it was for the best and stopped. He had wanted to travel to the state on the 28th of that month because he had asked Stacy to accompany him to an event that was happening on the 26th of that month but since the incident happened he decided to change his flight plan and flew out of the country at the 24th of that month.
Few years later, Gideon was in his finals when he got words that the dean of his school required his presence. He was surprised as this was the first time he would be summoned. On getting to the deans office, he realized that someone sent an email to his dean claiming that Gideon raped her some few years ago. It didn't take long for Gideon to know who had sent the email.
Unfortunately for her, she had claimed Gideon raped her at the event that took place on the 26th while Gideon wasn't even in the country then. He knew he could be expelled from the school, deported and arrested if the allegations were true, so he quickly brought his travel documents and showed it to the Dean. It had his date of departure on it. After going through his details, the dean was convinced that he was innocent so he let him go. And as Gideon walked out of the Dean's office, he promised he wasn't just going to let this slide. He was going to get the best lawyer and pursue this case until she know he wasn't one to be messed with, he was going to make her pay.
