When the remains of Okafor was found dangling from a tree, the whole village went into mourning. The once vibrant and carefree man was no more. Everyone in the village knew the cause for him committing suicide. They knew it had to do with the latest development that happened in his once peaceful home.

Okafor was one of the best palmwine tappers in his village. The king on special occasions would send his palace guards to go get palmwine from Okafor in other to serve to his guests, Okafor was that big.

Everything was going well until when tragedy struck and Okafor almost lost everything. The once wealthy farmer could now barely eat. But Okafor wasn't one to relent, he made sure he took up any job available in other to feed himself and his beautiful wife.

But even his best wasn't enough, so Okafor had done what he had vowed never to do, he sent his wife to go borrow money from his wealthy younger brother. That was the beginning of the end of Okafor the village palmwine tapper.

It took him a while but Okafor finally noticed the strange movement between his wife and his younger brother. And before he knew what was happening, he had lost his wife to his younger brother. Okafor cried to the king and the village elders but no one said nothing. There were rumors that Okafor's younger brother had earlier gone to the palace to grease the palm of the king and his elders.

The people saw all what was and were not happy about it, but they could do little or nothing without the order of the king. So when Okafor was found swinging from a tree, the people decided to go against the tradition of the land that said that anyone who killed his or herself would be thrown into the evil forest for his or her body to be eaten by wild animals, they were going to bury his body and there was nothing the king or his elders would do about it.

And then after the burial, Okafor's wife and his younger brother should better be on the run because even the gods wouldn't save them from the wrath of the people.
