What Have I Done?

No one seemed to pay attention to the barefooted lady walking mindlessly on the bridge.
Rose felt exhausted and decided to take a seat at the edge of the bridge. And even though peace of mind was far away from her, the cool breeze did help clear her thoughts a bit.

A million thoughts ran through her mind as she couldn't help but go through the events that took place few hours ago.

What do you do after a very bad day at work and you realize that that which you've given twenty years of your life to wasn't really worth it at the end?

The image was still very much clear in her head, her husband was butt naked with another woman on their matrimonial bed, the same bed she and her husband had shared sweet memories on.

She could remember how she had staggered down the stairs to the kitchen and poured herself a glass of whiskey.

“What do I do?” she kept asking herself as she took glass after glass of whiskey.

At one point, she had angrily threw the glass at the wall but the idiots were too deep in euphoria to have noticed or heard anything and that was why she grabbed one of the kitchen knife and marched up the stairs.

Rose remembered opening the door and moving to the bed quietly before driving the knife into both of them. Her husband first, and then the lady.

She was about stabbing them for the second time when she heard someone's voice downstairs, it was her husband's. Confused, Rose turned on the light and got the shock of her life, the man under the duvet wasn't her husband, it was Frank her husband's brother. And that was when it all came back to her. Her husband had told her that morning that his brother would be visiting.

Rose had dropped the knife on the floor and walked out of the house without a word to her husband.

Rose took a deep breath as the breeze washed through her face. She knew what must be done. And with that, she took a huge leap and jumped into the water underneath.
