Since I was a kid, I've been fascinated by storybooks. However, this habit started with my father. When I read the contest's topic, my favorite childhood book, I had several isolated pictures in my head! On the birthdays of any of our two sisters, Dad would take us to the library. At that time there was a well-known shop called the Fenley Library.

There were Bengali translations of various foreign comics that can be found in that shop which lured both the sisters. The condition was that the person whose birthday he would get two books and the other would get one. After coming home with the book, dad used to write a small note with the sparkling ink of the gel pen written "Father's gift on the birthday of Rodela's daughter" along with the signature and date! What a strange love that started our journey of reading books. But till the third or fourth grade, I used to read books from Disney series or comic series like Chacha Chaudhary, Billu, and Pinki about this character. In the meantime, my father took us to the book fair for the first time. At the book fair, I found various sorts of books. From the book fair, baba bought a dictionary from The Bangla Academy. And I picked up a dazzling white book. In fact, it was only after this book that I was able to describe myself as a bookworm girl and that was Muhammad Zafar Iqbal sir's book. It's called "I'm Tapu." My reading habit starts from here.
সেখানে বিভিন্ন বিদেশী কমিক্স এর বাংলা অনুবাদের বই পাওয়া যেত।যা আমাদের দুইবোনকে প্রচন্ডভাবে টানতো।শর্ত ছিলো যার জন্মদিন সে পাবে দুইটি বই আর অন্যজন পাবে একটি।বই নিয়ে বাসায় আসার পর বাবা জেল পেনের ঝকঝকে কালি দিয়ে লিখে দিত রোদেলা কন্যার জন্মদিনে বাবার উপহার সাথে বাবার সাক্ষর আর তারিখ!কি অদ্ভুত এক ভালোবাসা নিয়ে আমাদের বই পড়ার যাত্রা শুরু।তবে তৃতীয় বা চতুর্থ শ্রেণী পর্যন্ত আমি ডিজনি সিরিজের বই বা কমিকস সিরিজ যেমন চাচা চৌধুরী, বিল্লু, পিংকী এই চরিত্র নিয়ে লেখা বই পড়তাম।এর মধ্যে বাবা আমাদেরকে প্রথম বইমেলায় নিয়ে গেলেন।বইমেলায় গিয়ে তো হরেকরকমের বইয়ের দেখা পেলাম।বইমেলা থেকে বাবা বাংলা একাডেমি থেকে একটি ডিকশনারি কিনে দিলেন।আর আমি নিলাম সাদা মলাটের একটি ঝকঝকে বই।আসলে এই বই পরেই আমি বইপোকা কন্যা হিসেবে নিজে আখ্যা করতে পেরেছি আর সেটা ছিলো মুহাম্মদ জাফর ইকবাল স্যারের বই।নাম 'আমি তপু'।আমার বই পড়ার শুরুই মুলত এখান থেকে।

His life became miserable. His brother and sister's behavior was the same. Due to everyone's negligence, they poisoned Tapu's normal healthy mind.
The place of a brilliant student like him is in the kitchen storeroom. Tapu's lonely life is filled with a rat Micki and the maid Duli. এটা একটি কিশোর উপন্যাস। উপন্যাসের প্রধান চরিত্রও তপু।ঐ সময়ে তপু চরিত্রটি মনে দাগ কেটে ছিলো।নিঃসঙ্গ একজন কিশোর ছেলের জীবনের পরিবর্তন।তপু তিন ভাই-বোনের মধ্যে সর্বকনিষ্ঠ। তাই আদুরে ভরপুরে জীবন ছিলো তার।হঠাৎ তার ক্রিকেটে ব্যাটের আবদার পূরণ করতে গিয়ে রাস্তায় এক্সিডেন্ট করে তপুর বাবা মারা গেলেন।কিছুটা অদ্ভুত ভাবেই তপুর মা এই সবকিছুর জন্য তপুকেই দায়ী করে।দূর্বিষহ হয়ে উঠে তপুর জীবন।তার ভাই-বোনের ব্যবহারও একি রকম ছিলো।সবার অবহেলা,অনাদরে তপুর স্বাভাবিক সুস্থ মন তারা বিষিয়ে তুললো। তার মতো মেধাবী ছাত্রের জায়গা হলো রান্নাঘরের স্টোররুমে।তপুর নিঃসঙ্গ জীবনে ভাব হয় একটি ইঁদুর মিচকি আর কাজের বুয়া দুলি খালার সাথে।তার জীবনের এত বড় ধাক্কা, তার শিক্ষা জীবনেও প্রভাব ফেলে।অযত্নে বড় হওয়া ছেলেটা স্কুলেও অনাদরেই রইলো।কতটা কষ্ট থাকলে একটি ছেলে আত্মহত্যা করতে চায় বা ঘর থেকে বের হয়ে যেতে যায় তা কিছুটা আন্দাজ করা যায়!বেচে থাকার স্বপ্ন সবাই দেখে। ভাগ্যক্রমে তপুর জীবনে আগমন হয় প্রিয়াংকার।যে তপুর পুরো জীবনের মোড়টাই ঘুরিয়ে দেয়!তপুর সাথে মিশে প্রিয়াংকা বুঝতে পারে সে গণিতে অত্যন্ত তুখোড়।আসলে সারপ্রাইজটা কোথা থেকে আসবে কেউ তা বুঝতে পারি না।তাই বড় কিছু করতে হলে বড় স্বপ্নই দেখতে হয়।
There will be a mathematics competition in which only meritorious students of the school can participate. Priyanka struggled a lot to give the name of Tapu. And Tapu proved to everyone that he was exceptional. Everyone is impressed with his talent. He ascended to the position of champion of champions. The medal came from the president's hand. The statements of this remarkable little mathematician immediately flashed over the television screen and into the newspapers.
Meanwhile, Tapu's mother became sick. Everyone knew that she wouldn't survive much longer after visiting the doctor. He then drew Tapu close before plunging into the lap of death. Simply said, he kept telling his mother the thoughts on his mind, and that's how his mother exhaled her last breath. After the mother's intense love that he did not get for a long time, even after his mother's death, there was a chilling smile on the corner of her lips! Tears welled up in my eyes when I read this section of the book.
However, the ending conveys such a great message that one should never give up. Some people's hopes take them far and beyond.

গণিতের একটি কম্পিটিশন হবে,যেখানে শুধুমাত্র অংশগ্রহণ করতে পারবে বিদ্যালয়ের মেধাবী শিক্ষার্থীরা।প্রিয়াংকা অনেকটা ম্যানেজ করেই তপুর নাম দিয়ে দিলো।আর তপু যে অসাধারণ তা দেখিয়ে দিলো সবাইকে।তার প্রতিভায় সবাই মুগ্ধ।সে নিজের জায়গা করে নিলো চ্যাম্পিয়নদের চ্যাম্পিয়ন হিসেবে।মেডেল পেল প্রেসিডেন্ট এর হাত থেকে।এই অসামান্য ক্ষুদে গণিতবিদের কথা টিভির পর্দায়, খবরের কাগজে মাধ্যমে দ্রুত ছড়িয়ে পড়লো। আর এই দিকে তপুর মা হয়ে অসুস্থ হয়ে পরলেন।ডাক্তার দেখানোর পর সবাই বুঝলো তিনি আর বেশী দিন বাঁচবেন না।মৃত্যুর কোলে ঢলে পরার আগে তিনি তপুকে তখন কাছে টেনে নেন।খুব সহজভাবেই তার মনের কথাগুলো সে তার মাকে বলতে থাকে,এভাবেই তিনি শেষ নিশ্বাস ত্যাগ করেন।মায়ের যে তীব্র ভালবাসা সে পায়নি অনেকদিন পর তা পেয়ে মায়ের মৃত্যুর পরও তার ঠোঁটের কোণায় এক চিলতে হাসির রেখা মিলে!বইয়ের এই অংশে নিজের অজান্তেই চোখে পানি চলে আসে।
তবে শেষটা এত সুন্দর একটা মেসেজ দেয়,যে কখনো হাল ছেড়ে দিতে হয় না।কিছু কিছু আশা মানুষকে অনেক দূর পর্যন্ত নিয়ে যায়।
