Describe Your Best Adda Ever: Friends with adventurous spirits visiting a "secret" waterfall.

in BDCommunity5 years ago (edited)

One of the kinds of natural landscapes that I like to visit most when I decide to visit new places, are waterfalls. For a variety of reasons these true "magically carved" monuments automatically come to my attention and are able to mesmerize me at the same moment I see them.

For this contest, I think I have an obligation to highlight one of them (with all the photos taken by me) and I will explain the story behind it, because getting there was not such a fast and easy way. However, you can be sure that the reward was visually stunning and spiritually invigorating to my spirit. These are moments no word can describe... You have to live each one of the experiences in order to understand fully them.

A few years ago, I took a trip to Cuiabá - Mato Grosso (Midwest region here in Brazil, one of the hottest places in the country that always has high temperatures all year long!) and within the various locations I had the opportunity to go, I met a national park called Chapada dos Guimarães and once in this place, I came across one of the most famous waterfalls of my country, called "Véu da Noiva" (Bride's Veil, in literal English translation).

  • P.S.: Considering that this state doesn't have as many famous monuments or tourist places, finding such a place was a pleasant surprise.

It's an impressive 12-kilometer-long waterfall (sometimes looking like a constantly moving painting) that naturally helps build the stunning atmosphere of a place filled with green in all directions and a clean air climate that It provides countless moments of fun, relaxation, inspiration and above all reflection for those looking for an inner connection with themselves in the chaos of the society that governs modern life.

Particularly speaking, I think this is one of the most amazing spectacles that nature can give us and the beauty of the waterfalls, in my opinion, has something enigmatic that if discussed further will surely start a good and long talk about how amazing the range of nature is in the world and in our lives, proving to us that somehow we are all connected with everything.

Also, I can see a lot of symbolism in them because depending on each person's point of view and personal moment, when a waterfall comes in your way, a bath of new sensations (regardless of whether or not you shower under one) can present to you in ways you could never imagine. In a nutshell, I'd say waterfalls are simply magical.

However, before reaching this spectacular place and having the pleasure of witnessing this power of nature materialized in such beauty of indescribable value, the path was both challenging and fun. This is precisely what I am going to talk about, trying to describe the details of the route and the adventures that took place until the final destination and the reward arrived.

Me and three other friends got together to drive, and the day this adventure happened (something we planned to do several months ago), the sky was cloudy and the weather was announcing a rain. This made us a little apprehensive, but fortunately the rain didn't fall and instead a bright (and very hot) sun was present and we didn't need to make any changes to our plans.

We drove the long miles to our final destination in the midst of a lush, green landscape and magnificent rock buildings that defied our minds by the way they were "built." Of course the whole process is a result of nature itself (something that does not need any logical explanation), but we wondered and debated among ourselves how those forms have been settled over the years and still stand in such imposing ways.

The traffic was fine and there were almost no cars, but at one point one of our car's tires punctured and that left us momentarily frustrated, but we radically got out of the car and changed the tire and drove on. We initially complained a lot about this setback, but soon after we were laughing at what had just happened. Ironic, right? Haha! The desire to arrive at the park was such that it was not a problem.

It didn't take so long to get to the park as we had imagined (usually the road to get to the place is usually very busy, but that weekend everything was very calm), but we forgot one important detail: we had to pay the fee visitation, but as we programmed for this possible obstacle, we had money. The downside is that - afterwards - we had to reschedule lunch and eat at a cheaper location, but a very good quality level.

Once inside, the temperature started to get hotter as the sun was getting stronger (even the numbers were higher than the weather forecast was announcing). But since it was very windy and had lots of green on all sides (amazing how this place is inhabited by so many kinds of vegetation), our walk to the big waterfall was relatively pleasant until we got used to all that heat.

As if the heat was not a sufficient obstacle, during the walk it was possible to see some warning signs in relation to the steep paths with some "surprises" of that region. The goal was to make everyone aware of the possible risks of falling (which although not common, can happen to the most unsuspecting or inconsequential people). In particular, these signs are meant for people who are bolder and risk walking and taking pictures very close to the cliffs.

Well, folks... This post ends here. I hope you enjoyed this great adventure (because it really was something incredible).
