This is my entry post for the Season Hunt Challenge Week 15 by @barbara-orenya in the Feel Good Community! The theme this week is Frost and Ice! You can learn more about the contest and how to enter HERE!
I'm going to start with the "there" part of my post and that is at the Loch Raven Reservoir in Baltimore County, Maryland. I took these first two photos one day apart within the last two weeks. I took them from a moving vehicle and tried to get them as close to the same shot as possible. I think they are pretty close! My first photo is the one I took on the second visit and shows some of the melting that happened in a day.
You can't tell from the above photos but there are some large branches that have been at the top of the Loch Raven Dam for a while now. I think it will take a lot of rain to finally send them over the dam or maybe eventually the DNR (Department of Natural Resources) will remove them. In the meantime though I captured a couple of photos to show you!
I was a little surprised by how much ice was on the water.
I also thought it was really interesting to see some branches laying on top of the ice. The last photo in the collages shows a rock in the water but in that photo I was mainly wanting to show the thickness of the ice. Not thick enough that I would walk on it! I've only walked on an icy body of water once and that was enough for me. The cracking of the ice was very unnerving even though I was assured that it was safe to do so at the time. Nope! I'll stick to the shoreline!
That's all for "there" and now I will bring you back "here" where I took some photos around my yard. My first photos here are frosty and icy! The first collage showing frost and the second collage shows some maple buds that had freezing rain fall on them.
The frost in my next photo shows just a light frost on a part of my yard towards the far end of the back yard.
Frost wasn't the only thing back there either as we had some rain recently which froze up some standing water on the ground. I thought this good size frozen puddle had a nice design to it.
While I was checking that frozen spot out Baby (the cat) decided to check out another frozen spot!
Don't worry though because Baby isn't thirsty or at least I don't think she is. She and the other two outside cats have fresh water on the front porch. It ices up but my daughter knocks out the ice and re-fills them every day. Of course, cats being cats, they sometimes prefer to drink out of a non-frozen puddle.
Here is my last photo! I took a photo of some frost on the outside of an old car window. I especially love how this photo came out (with a little editing)! It looks like a lovely little piece of art to me with all of the tiny ice crystal designs. I thought it a pretty and perfect photo to end my post! 💖

Baby cat is curious like all cats when it comes to something different happening around the house. They are lucky to have fresh water put outside everyday.

You saved the best for last! The car window photo is just so awesome. It evokes a lot of images just looking at it, from tree branches to hanging flowers to, would you believe, a sleeping lion (on the right middle portion of the photo). Wow, talking of a picture that paints a thousand words. Not that the other photos are not good. In fact they are all magnificent with the frozen waterfalls taking the center stage. I think the frost on the far end of the backyard and the frozen puddle are really artistic. What a great and marvelous hunt. I enjoyed viewing your trophies. Bravo. 👋👋👋
