It’s a long time since I dedicated a post to my three cats, and I think it’s about time. They probably think that ever since Chiqui and Mordelón joined our family, I’ve forgotten all about them or that all my love now goes to the new furry members of the house. But no, not at all! I still love and care for them just the same, although I admit things aren’t quite like they used to be.
My three lovely cats still sleep in my bed from time to time, and that’s the only magical moment when dogs and cats can live in peace, like a silent truce in the name of rest. Mordelón, when he first arrived, got along perfectly with them. But then Chiqui showed up, the little troublemaker of the house, and chaos began. She can’t see a cat without wanting to chase it, like it’s her favorite sport. And of course, Mordelón, who used to be such a gentleman, now copies everything she does.
Still, my cats are mostly homebodies, calm, spoiled, and happy to spend their days indoors. They love looking out the window, sleeping in the strangest corners, and enjoying their meals as if every bite were a celebration. Although I must confess, with a bit of guilt and humor, that more than once they’ve gone on “night expeditions” to the neighbors’ yards and come back with a “souvenir” in the form of a pigeon or a chicken. And of course, I’m there pretending I know nothing when the neighbors start complaining!
Despite the mischief, the fur everywhere, and the little territorial wars with Chiqui, they’re an essential part of my home. Their purring calms me, their presence brings me joy, and their love, even if they try to hide it behind their independent attitude, is always there.
Because in the end, between barks and meows, the house is full of life, laughter, and that pure kind of love only animals know how to give.

Hace mucho tiempo que no les dedico un post a mis tres gatos, y creo que ya era hora. Seguro ellos piensan que desde la llegada de Chiqui y Mordelón me olvidé de ellos, o que ahora paso todo mi cariño a los nuevos miembros peludos de la familia. Pero no, nada de eso. Los sigo amando y cuidando como siempre, aunque reconozco que las cosas ya no son como antes.
Mis tres gatos siguen durmiendo en mi cama de vez en cuando, ese es el único momento mágico en que perros y gatos pueden convivir en paz, como si hicieran una tregua silenciosa en nombre del descanso. Mordelón, cuando llegó, se llevaba de maravilla con ellos. Pero claro… luego apareció Chiqui, la traviesa de la casa, y ahí se desató el caos. No puede ver un gato sin querer perseguirlo, como si fuera su deporte favorito. Y lo peor es que Mordelón, que antes era todo un caballero, ahora imita cada una de sus travesuras.
Aun así, mis gatos son más bien caseros, tranquilos y consentidos. Les gusta asomarse a la ventana, dormir en los rincones más insólitos y disfrutar de su comida como si cada bocado fuera una fiesta. Aunque debo confesar (con un poco de culpa y humor) que más de una vez han protagonizado sus “expediciones nocturnas” a los patios vecinos, de donde han regresado con algún “souvenir” en forma de paloma o gallina. ¡Y claro, yo con la cara de “no sé de qué me hablas” cuando los vecinos se quejan!
A pesar de las travesuras, los pelos en cada rincón y las pequeñas guerras territoriales con Chiqui, ellos son una parte esencial de mi hogar. Su ronroneo me calma, su presencia me alegra, y su amor, aunque a veces lo disimulen con aires de independencia, siempre está ahí.
Porque al final, entre ladridos y maullidos, la casa está llena de vida, de risas y de ese tipo de amor puro que solo los animales saben dar.
