My selections after searching for words starting with H.

• Hello, Hallo

Not only humans but animals greet each other. My friend’s dog, Jake, meets a doggie friend when we were walking on the Confederation trail and he stopped to say Hello.

• Halloween or Hallows Eve

Halloween was always and still is one of my favorite celebrations. It’s the evening when the doorway between our physical world and the spirit world is left open for entities to roam the earth. Some of those in spirit form may visit friends and relatives while others like to cause fear and havoc.

As a child it was fun to roam the neighborhood, dressed as a witch or goblin, and knock on doors to be given a treat of candy or cookie in exchange for not playing a prank.

Of course lots of pranks were played such as rubbing soap on windows. Usually nothing too serious except I remember an outhouse or two being pushed over.

• Hand

Carrying on with the same theme with the dog. This is the hand of my friend getting ready to pick Jake up as a big dog approaches.

The hand of Hubby showing blueberries that were growing in the yard last August. Enough blueberries grow in the front yard to be frozen and used for pancakes and pies during the winter.

• Horse

What’s more free feeling than seeing horses unbridled in a large pasture? i saw these two while driving by and stopped to take their photo. They seem curious as to what I was doing.





Horses have been replaced by vehicles but they are still used by the Amish people for transportation. This lady drove the horse with the open buggy into Montague for supplies and is now on the way home.

• Hauler

When lobster season is over The lobster boats have to be hauled out of the water and transported to storage until next season.





This hauler truck loaded a lobster boat to participate in the Montague Parade.

• Hidden

The pretty black cat with the green eyes and white whiskers thinks it is hidden in the bushes. It stayed completely still while I took the photo.





The young great blue heron thinks he has a great hidden spot and no one can see him. There was an eagle nearby and the heron may be hiding from him. Eagles are the biggest predators of herons and will often invade their nests and eat the babies or eggs.





And that’s all for my six H selections.

Love your H photos! I had intended to get my H post put together today, but the day got away from me. Tomorrow will be H Day for me! Even though I know the photo of the Amish buggy is modern day it does feel like it could take me back to the time when Anne lived on Prince Edward Island! Of course I love that you ended with a great photo of a feathered friend! 😍

I love everyone's creativity with this competition. It emphasises how very different we all think. Your hello and hand was very clever. I always laughed when people picked up their little dogs when Marly Bulldog and Ivy the Labrador walked toward them.

Yes, my friend is afraid her little dog will get attacked but the dogs we met on the trail were all on a leash and non- threatening. She even picked him up when we saw the eagle.

Sunday we normally do a beach or park walk, very frustrating these are both still off limit. A gorgeous sunny day a little cooler but nothing like your kind of cold Jo.

At first I have to say that you have used one of my words, Jo 😉
But I think I will still be able to use it, because you have a cat and I have a fly, you have bushes in the photo and I have leaves ... so, no worries 😉 lol

I love these horses, they look so proud and beautiful. Our neighbor has the same little dog, and I can confirm that these are nice and polite little dogs :)

Not to worry, your use of the same word sounds interesting. I had my H list done up a few days ago and left in the draft folder ready to go. I see hand and horse had been used by others and even Halloween.

Little Jake is a nice dog. It would be fun to have a dog again but I have enough to look after with the two cats and feeding the birds & wildlife that comes by. 😀

No, I don't worry, it was just fun 😉
When I saw the hididen fly I thought that would be something for the "H" - I think when we finally search for the "Z" we will look for letters in each photo we take, at least I am already beginning doing so ;) lol

We have blue sky and sunshine, but as said before I'm at work and can only hope that tomorrow will be at least half as nice 🙂

Good evening Johann,

The rain held off and I was able to get the mulch spread around. It was quite humid or maybe I just worked up a sweat doing a bit of physical exercise.😆

Some of the letters will be harder to match and if I am keeping an eye out for ones like Z. V and Q.

I hope work went well and tomorrow is a nice day.😊

Work went well and I haven't done much, so I could hive a bit inbetween ;) lol

I want to do it like you and make some drafts with the upcoming letters if one comes into my mind, but I haven't any yet ;)

Enjoy to see your selection from Prince Edward Island ...^_^ is the Amish community a big one in your Island, or even in Canada..?
and I'm amused by the Great Blue Heron that made the biggest feature in the #AlphabetHunt amongst various Hivians at the B , the G and the H letters ...😄

Thanks Barbara. 💞The Amish starting coming here a few years ago. These ones were formerly living in Ontario., Canada. They bought up old run-down farms no one was using and fixed them up. One man is in demand as a good blacksmith. They opened a country store and small bakery.

I see them around Montague with horse and buggy. It’s not too busy on the roads here but still there has been a couple accidents with the horse and buggy.

Yes, the Great Blue Heron is a popular subject for the Alphabet Hunt. I have so many photos of them I try to use the photos when possible.😀
