I try and have a walk about 20 minutes after eating. It's good for the blood pressure, blood sugar, and digestion. It's also been beneficial in helping control my weight.
Earlier in the year I wandered along a local street which is unadopted. This means the local council never accepted responsibility for maintenance, and the residents of the street are responsible for the upkeep.
Without regular maintenance (expensive) patches of worn tarmac can quickly degrade and require repair (very expensive). Performing neither is the cheaper option, so long as your vehicle isn't damaged, or the degradation doesn't spread to affect your property.
It's a matter of perspective I suppose.
And that brings us to the picture above. It shows the top, level, part of the street where a large swathe of roadway has worn away to leave a hollow which becomes an impressive lake after some rainfall - which had happened the day before. Note how few vehicles are parked in the street.
Filming from so low to the ground in the early night gives some wonderful texture to the picture. The street light just above, the one along the street, and the clouds reflecting Plymouth's light pollution all work to convince the viewer this is not the deep darkness of a mid-evening in February.

I don't know how it works over there but is maintenance of road not supposed to be the responsibility of the government or in this case the local council? It's surprising seeing authorities of supposed developed nations behaving like that of third world countries.
I suppose humans all over the world share the same character traits.

the vast majority are - but around the nation there are ones that slip through the net. some are historical and date back to before there being a local authority covering the area, others are newer and the builders didn't tie up required authorisations correctly.
Ohhh.... amazing how hive is a window of which we get to know how similar we are.
Friend, I don't think you have read this week's contest blog. I really like your blogs, but we have mentioned a small thing in this contest blog, according to which a blog will become more interesting for both you and the readers. I am sure you can do that.
I really like this photo, the angle makes it more beautiful, however, I hope this road maintenance work will be completed soon. Because this actually causes a lot of problems for the general public.
Sir, I am going to blame my obvious oversight on the covid I am battling, and humbly apologise
Sorry to hear this, I hope you're resting well, I am sure you will recover soon. No apology is needed, just read the contest blog before participating because any updates will only be mentioned there. 🙏
Walking after dinner is really a good exercise. But its real difficult situation to see the streets flooded with water. But in most places the condition is same. The municipality nevwr takes responsibility.
