Season Hunt Challenge, week 6 ... Chasing Fall Landscapes

in Feel Good2 years ago

Here in Upstate New York it doesn't take too much chasing to be able to bath all of your senses in the season we call Autumn or Fall.
It is my favorite season of all, with spring coming in a distant 2nd.
@farm-mom and I chose this region of New York State for two reasons.

  • The place was in the middle of nowhere, but yet it was not too far to drive back to the old stomping grounds where our family still lives. In less than 4 hours we're back in town.
  • The other reason we fell in love with this property 40 some years ago was because of the ever-changing landscape offered up by the seasonal changes.

Experiencing the real difference in weather that comes with the changing of seasons is exhilarating. These seasonal changes kind of keep you on your toes.

While making my way back home, and finally getting out of the traffic that congests the roadways of the most densely populated state in America, I grabbed the camera. The scenery was awesome and I was able to snap away while enjoying every minute of my ride back into the mountains.

With so much still green, the sight of barren trees, with their foliage littered at the feet of massive trunks, was hard to imagine was right around the corner.

As I followed The Beaver Kill portion of the Upper Deleware River towards home, The Fall season was in full swing. At times the faraway landscape would be camoed by an afternoon mist. Colors in the foreground drew the eye's attention.

The Adirondack Mountains were showing off, wanting to be seen.

Every turn in the road was like getting another cookie, as a kid.

Fields of uncut corn were adding their touch to the scenery.

Old barns, made from the very wood of these forests, still stand as a testament to the #sustainability of the forest's #renewable gift.

While crossing a portion of the Susquehanna River the recent rains had added to the river's sheer power.

Elevation provided breathtaking views as the eye's target tripled in size.

45 minutes from home, the traffic had all but disappeared as well as the vivid Autumn colors.

As the sun starts to set on this season,

winter will once again change the landscape so extremely.

Beautiful Nature ! Environment is an important thing when deciding where to live, in fact for me it is the most crucial point, I could not live in a place I'm not thrilled to look at...LoL...I would litterally waste away like a flower without water and without sun 😄

I hear you. There has to be a special connection between nature and any place I hang my hat and choosing this area many years ago has proved to be a winner.

It is great to live in a place that has all 4 seasons isn’t it? We are only 4 hours away from each other and maybe have the same weather patterns.

Funny thing is people think Canadia is way up there when I am on the same latitude as Northern California.

Hopefully the family and homestead are settled in for a nice winter and all the holidays that will be on us soon.

When most think of Canada they think of cold weather year-round.
I was surprised when you mention that you have the same latitude as Northern california.
Things on the homestead are pretty good but would be better if I were to be able to do a little more, I'm kind of saddled with this new hip, but recovery from the operation is going pretty good.
I hope all is well with the family and that your business is flourishing!

Oh yah business is a handful but that's what makes us the money.

New hip? Ah don't sweat the right now then. You just levelled back up and will be good as new in no time. Plus there is whisky!

Plus there is whisky, LoL.

Beautiful. My favourite time of year. Although Fall always triggers special memory of the time I lived in the US....another lifetime ago

This Autumn lasted for so long, the leaves remained in full color for several weeks. I think it was due to all of the rain we had this past spring and summer.

You and Robin made a great decision to move to a peaceful place you both love. The landscapes of fall colors on the mountains are beautiful on your way home. All the photos are great and I especially liked the one with the red barn. Not a lot of barns anymore as farmers are wrapping their hay in large plastic rolls and leaving them outside.

Many of the old barns around here are in total disrepair, but the ones that have been maintained have a story to tell.

Your photos are great!

Thank you very much. This is truly a very special time of year as the mountains explode into a pallet of colors.
