Why is Shawn Michaels considered the best?

Shaan Michaels is considered by many to be the greatest in history, but why?

He's not the most successful world or tag team championship, nor the United States or Intercontinental Championship. He's not the most successful Royal Rumble winner, nor is he a King of the Ring winner. But unlike football, in wrestling, an athlete's greatness isn't always measured in titles, but in the legacy they've left or will leave behind.

Beginnings and Early Years in the WWF

Before joining the WWF, Sean Michael worked in other companies, winning the tag team championship multiple times with his partner Marty Yanetti.

The WWF saw their talent and signed them, but they were later fired after an incident at a bar. Time passed, they continued winning tag team championships and returned to the company.

Their charisma, attire, and wrestling style captivated the public, so much so that they won the tag team championships from the Heart Foundation, only to have them stripped of them for reasons we'll never know exactly. But this isn't a chronology of Michael's, so we'll move forward in time and continue from here.

Early Achievements and Recognition

During his first career, Sean Michaels won two consecutive Royal Rumballs, one of which he won at number one, becoming the first to do so. He won the Intercontinental Championship three times, the European Championship once, the Tag Team Championship three times, and was a three-time WWF Champion. He also became the first Grand Slam wrestler.

He was also the founder, considered by many to be the best stable in history, DX, and was even one of the first to have his own interview segment, The Heartbreak Hotel. Although this didn't last long, he was an inspiration to other wrestlers.

Crowd Interaction

Wrestlers didn't get as close to the crowd in the past. We can see this in the entrances of the stars of the time, Ultimate Warrior, Hulk Hogan, Macheman, and a few others. The vast majority didn't approach the crowd, or if they did, it was just to shake hands. These two started with more interaction. Bret, for his part, gave away his glasses, and Sean even brought the crowd into the ring to dance with them.

Conclusion: Why is he the best?

Let's hope Shaw Michaels is around for a long time. For me, Sean Michaels is the best in history, as there's no wrestler more influential than him. If we wanted to compare him, it would be like Johan Cruyff in soccer or Michael Jordan in basketball. Someone who changed the landscape and left an everlasting mark on the sport.
