Cena did not have to qualify for the chamber match, Cena was on the cover of the elimination chamber thumbnail (which gave away that he was winning the match), and he's in Hollywood along with the Rock. All these things added up to Cena's heel turn. Don't get me wrong, I want to enjoy heel john Cena.
