Explaining WOO Game Terms Part 9: Resistance.

in WOOGame2 years ago

Hello, everyone! Let's continue our study of the WOO game terminologies. In the previous post, I spoke about various wrestling styles and how they can affect gameplay through what we call in the WOO Game "Resistance."

A little recap:

We said there are three wrestling styles:

  • Technical
  • High Flyers
  • Powerhouse

Technicals resist High-flyers
High Flyers resist Powerhouse
Powerhouse resists Technicals

What does this really imply:

When a particular wrestling style resists another, it means the opponent's damage effect will be halved. Don't worry; I'll break it down.

Let's say a technical is fighting a high flyer, and he has 4 damage. When he launches an attack on the high flyer, it will do 4 damage to the health of the high flyer. Resistance does not take effect here because high flyers are not resistant to technicals.

When you flip this around, then resistance takes effect. Let's now say the High Flyer with a 4 damage launches a successful attack on the technical, and it connects. Under normal circumstances, it's supposed to do 4 damage to the health of the technical, but because technicals resist high flyers, the damage will now be halved. Therefore, the damage on the health of the technical now becomes 2.

  • Are you seeing how this can change the entire gameplay?

So, what happens when the damage is an odd number and resistance takes effect?

In an instance where the high flyer's damage is say 5, will the damage be 2.5?

The answer is No! The game mechanics will round up the figure after resistance is taken into account.

So if a High Flyer with 5 damage launches an attack on a technical and it connects, the damage halved becomes 2.5, and then it's rounded up to 3. Therefore, a damage of 3 will be done to the health of the technical.

What does this mean?

This means when you play against an opponent with higher damage but equal in health and speed, and you happen to have a wrestler who resists that opponent's wrestling style, there is a higher chance that you can win that match.

Worth Noting:

There is no way for you to know what kind of NFT wrestler your opponent is bringing, so you just gotta pray and hope your wrestler resists. If you are unfortunate and your opponent resists you, then I'm sorry for your loss. Better luck next time.

This is one of the things that makes the WOO game not just a wrestling-themed auto-battler card game but a strategy game.

I guess that's just about it for Resistance and Wrestling styles. I hope the examples were clear enough to make you understand.

The best way, I would say, to see this in effect is to try to play a couple of matches.

Thanks for reading, and best of luck on always being on the good side of resistance.

Happy New Year!!!
