I'm not mad at Jey Uso for denying his brother's attempt at a reunion. Why should he? With everything Jimmy has pulled, why should family ties bind him back into that chaos? It's ridiculous, the way with which people expect blood to right betrayal on its own. I mean, Jey's on the rise, Intercontinental champion, doing good on his own.
He does not need that toxicity again.
Family drama never ends, does it? And with the way Jimmy sabotaged Jey's chance at the WWE Championship, it's not just water under the bridge. No, that's a dam built by betrayal, and Jimmy's out here pretending like everything's fine because they share DNA?
Ridiculous.
I have had my own experiences with family who think that a last name is enough to make everything right.
Spoiler: it's not. Respect means more than blood.
But here is the thing: wrestling fans and if I am being honest, people in general will still cling to that old "blood thicker than water" thingy. It is actually kind of comical how we manipulate this phrase to justify when we participate in unhealthy relationships. Loyalty doesn't come from lineage bro, it's earned. Jey isn't required to get Jimmy out of a mess that he made.
Will Jey cave? Maybe.
But there's always that sliver of doubt when it comes to family. You want to walk away, but sometimes the pull is stronger than logic. Even if he does, though, I'll question his decision every step of the way.
