Breaking News Roundup: The Wild, The Weird, and the Straight-Up WTF from Wrestling This Week
Hey all you Hive bros and broettes let’s talk about the stuff happening outside the ring. Watch out cowboy cause its about to be a shoot cause as always, the wrestling world doesn’t sleep, and this week it’s been full-on bonkers!
This week there was a ton going on! We got former WWE star beefing with fans over title semantics, a full-on Hogan family meltdown (don't worry this one isn't Hulk being racist or his daughter sleeping around) , Mercedes Moné getting called out by a Hall of Famer, and oh yeah… WWE might be bringing back a long-lost pay-per-view and also accidentally offended an entire country...
Let’s start at the top!
Mandy Rose has entered the chat and she’s not happy!
Mandy Rose Goes Off on Fans Over “Double Champion” Argument
So Mandy Rose hopped online and started reminding people that she was a double champ in NXT. Cool, fine, whatever, but then fans started fact checking her and that’s where things went off the rails.
Basically, heres how it goes. She actually unified the NXT Women’s and NXT UK Women’s titles, but fans pointed out that technically she wasn’t holding two belts at the same time for long enough to really call it a “double reign” and that’s when she snapped!!!
She drops a video on X where she goes full rant mode, saying stuff like “y’all can argue semantics but I still did it,” and “call it what you want, Mandy Two Belts, double champ, whatever, I don’t care”
don’t care”
don't care,"
Accept

and it honestly came off super defensive and weird.
Like girl… nobody said you didn’t win the titles? They just didn’t agree with the label. But instead of just brushing it off, she doubled down and made it a thing. Seriously, check out the X post. It's wild!
She said it’s funny how the people arguing never held a championship and I’m like… that’s kinda the fan experience though?
Look don't get me wrong or anything. Mandy was a super solid talent in NXT. There is no doubt about it and she was in the middle of a real run before they let her go over the OnlyFans stuff. But stuff like this? Come on. This just is not helping her case for a comeback if she wanted to come back. It seems that the WWE loves people who stay quiet, show up, and work. I don't think they are looking for people going off on social. Especially when they argue with fans over something so dumb!
It didn’t need to be a whole fight but here we are and no one is the better for it.
Hogan Family Drama Is Fully on Fire and Nobody Looks Good Here
So this whole situation popped off when Linda Hogan, yeah Hulk’s ex, went on video and just kinda… unloaded everything. Like fully spilled the tea, broke the pot, and tossed it off the roof!!!
She said she hasn’t talked to her daughter Brooke Hogan in almost 8 years, didn’t know she had twins, didn’t know she got married, and blamed a big fight Brooke had with Hulk for why she got cut off too and then just spiraled into this long, emotional rant about her divorce and how she still hasn’t healed from it.
And then she said Hulk’s a sex addict. Just threw that in there casually like “oh by the way…” and started dragging him over his whole Real American Beer gimmick and acting like he’s still a hero and yeah, it got dark fast!
But then Brooke clapped back on Instagram and said that what her mom posted was actually mild compared to stuff she’s dealt with behind the scenes. Said she’s been verbally and mentally abused since she was a kid, and sometimes it even turned physical!!!
She said she’s focused on her kids, her husband, and her relationship with God now and doesn’t want people speculating about the details and just wants to move forward.
Honestly? This is just sad. Doesn’t matter how famous you are or how long you were in the spotlight, stuff like this is real and painful and seeing it play out online is just rough...
No word from Hulk yet, and who knows if he’ll even respond, but man this one’s ugly!
SmackDown’s Got a New Ring Announcer and Most Fans Are Like... Who?
So WWE officially announced that Mark Shunock is now the full-time ring announcer for SmackDown, and if you’re sitting there going “who?” then you’re definitely not alone!
He’s not really a wrestling guy, but he’s got a background in boxing, pro sports, Vegas stuff, live events, all that... Soooooo he’s used to hyping up crowds, just not ones screaming about Bloodline storylines.
Shunock announced it himself on X, seemed pumped about the opportunity, and WWE’s clearly leaning into the whole “sports entertainment crossover” thing with this pick.
No hate to the guy, he’ll probably be fine, but fans are already side-eyeing it a little since nobody really knows him and SmackDown’s crowd energy depends heavily on the voice behind that mic.
Let’s see how he handles a Roman Reigns entrance cause that’s where careers are made or broken...
Kevin Nash Says Mercedes Moné Is Phoning It In and the Internet Exploded (Again)
So on his podcast this week, Kevin Nash decided to casually drop a grenade on Mercedes Moné. Like just straight up said she’s phoning it in over in AEW and that she’s not the same wrestler she used to be.
Like not even a light critique, dude said “she’s phoning her shit in big time” and specifically brought up how she doesn’t look like the same woman who tore the house down with Bayley in Brooklyn.
And you already know what happened next... Yup! You guessed it. The fans lost their damn minds!
Some people agree with him, saying she hasn’t really looked locked in since the move and that her AEW matches haven’t hit the way her NXT stuff did. Others are like nah, she’s been injured, adapting, and still one of the best to do it.
But when someone like Nash says it, it hits just a little different. He’s not some random hater. He’s aHall of Famer with decades of experience, so people are gonna listen even if he’s a little reckless sometimes with how he puts stuff.
Mercedes hasn’t responded publicly yet, but knowing her, if she claps back it’s gonna be sharp.
This whole thing’s just more fuel for whatever match she’s building toward, honestly.
Kevin Owens Says the Old WWE Regime Didn't Think Fans Remember Anything
So Kevin Owens was doing this interview with Adrian Hernandez and he basically said what we’ve all been yelling about for years that the old WWE creative team thought the fans were dumb.
Kev said when Vinny Mac was still in charge, he had to fight just to keep stories consistent... Like for real literal arguments backstage because they'd forget something that happened two weeks ago and just hope no one noticed.
KO was like no, the fans remember, we can’t just pretend it didn’t happen and move on, and they’d legit tell him nah they won’t, just go with it.
And honestly that explains so much... All those weird feuds where guys would beat the hell out of each other one week and then team up like nothing ever happened the next week? That was because creative didn’t think anyone would care.
Owens said it’s gotten way better lately, that people at the top now actually respect the fans and pay attention to continuity, which you can feel in the product. This stuff matters now. Now things get followed up on. It looks like we are getting long-term booking as a thing again.
It’s wild how simple that is but how much it changes everything!
And it also proves KO’s been trying to protect the product for a long time. This Guy just gets it!
Hulk Hogan Thinks The Rock Could Be President and Honestly... He Might Not Be Wrong
So Hogan was doing an interview with that Going Ringside show and they asked him about The Rock ever running for president and without even hesitating, Hogan was like yeah he’d probably win.
He said The Rock has a built-in fanbase that’s stuck with him for 20-plus years, that he’s got the charisma, the Hollywood shine, the whole thing, and honestly... he ain’t lying.
Hogan even joked that he cracked open the Hollywood door and Rock kicked it off the hinges, and as much as that sounds like classic Hogan self-hype, it’s also kinda true.
Now to be clear, The Rock hasn’t said anything serious about running lately, he’s got like 300 other things going on right now, but if he did decide to go for it, especially with how things are in politics right now, people would absolutely get behind him.
He polls better than most actual politicians, and if he ran on like good vibes and cheat meals, he’d probably carry 40 states minimum.
Not saying it’s gonna happen anytime soon, but Hogan backing him just added fuel to a fire that never really goes out.
WWE’s “El Grande Americano” Gimmick Is Not Landing in Mexico and Fans Are Heated
So this whole El Grande Americano thing WWE is doing, the masked gimmick that’s probably Chad Gable, has been kinda funny in a “this is clearly a troll” way over here, but internationally? Yeah, not so much...
According to the Wrestling Observer, fans in Mexico and Latin America are seriously not feeling it. Like full-on backlash, people calling it insulting, and it’s not just because of the goofy promo.
One of the biggest problems was WWE having him billed from the "Gulf of America" which is... not a thing. And apparently there’s real tension around that term because of past political stuff, especially stuff tied to Trump, and fans are saying it felt like a lowkey jab at Mexican culture.
Ernesto Ocampo from Super Luchas even said it’s an insult on multiple levels, not just to Mexican wrestling but to Mexico in general, and that they didn’t even bother writing the character’s name in proper Spanish.
Look, we all know WWE loves comedy gimmicks and sometimes they work, sometimes they crash and burn. This one? It’s skating on real thin ice already and we’ve only had like two segments.
If this keeps blowing up, don’t be shocked if they pull the plug fast. Wouldn’t be the first time they quietly buried something and moved on...
WWE Is Bringing Back Evolution and It’s About Time
So our friends over at WrestleVotes dropped the news that WWE is officially bringing back the former PPV Evolution! Yes, the all-women’s pay-per-view and it’s supposedly going down this summer!
No date confirmed yet, no official announcement from WWE, but sources are saying it’s happening and should get announced before WrestleMania which is honestly perfect timing.
So many fans have been begging for this for years. The first Evolution back in 2018 was a banger with Ronda vs Nikki, Becky vs Charlotte in that insane Last Woman Standing match, just a stacked show that proved the women’s division could headline on its own!
And since then? Nothing. No follow-up. They just kinda pretended it didn’t happen. Until now.
This is great cause this roster is deeper than ever too. Rhea, Bianca, Iyo, Bayley, Becky, Liv, Tiffany, Roxanne, Naomi, Jade coming in, maybe even Mercedes if they play their cards right. They’ve got the talent to make Evolution II even bigger than the first.
If they give it a solid card and don’t treat it like a side project, this could steal the summer!
WWE’s finally listening on this one. Let’s hope they do it right.
WWE’s Doing a WrestleMania IX Documentary and Yeah, That’s Gonna Be Spicy
So apparently WWE is dropping a full doc on WrestleMania IX yeah, that one, the one with the togas, the weird booking, and the ending where Hogan just randomly walks out and leaves as champ like it was his birthday party.
According to WrestleVotes, the doc is gonna hit Peacock sometime before WrestleMania XLI and it’s supposed to cover everything! Including the behind-the-scenes mess, the main event chaos, and especially the part where Bret Hart got screwed outta the title so Hogan could do his Hulk thing one more time.
They’re gonna have interviews with the big names too. Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Undertaker, Hogan himself so you already know there’s gonna be at least one person telling the truth and one person doing damage control.
WrestleMania IX has always been one of those “so bad it’s kinda legendary” shows. Like it’s not even good-bad, it’s just... weird. And fans have clowned it for years, but getting a legit documentary on it? That could actually be amazing!
Also makes sense timing-wise. This year’s Mania is back in Vegas, same as IX, so WWE’s trying to tap into the nostalgia and spin it into something marketable. Which, yeah, classic WWE move.
Either way, I’m watching the hell outta this when it drops!!!
Well, that wraps up the Wrestling News for now. It's been a wild one. Let's keep the conversation going in the comments. What do you think is the craziest bit of wrestling news?
