Jednym z miejsc, które odwiedziliśmy w Tajlandii, jest wyspa Phuket. Znajduje się ona w południowo-zachodniej części kraju, o tutaj:

Phuket jest jednym z bardziej popularnych kierunków turystycznych, głównie za sprawą dobrze skomunikowanego lotniska, słynnego życia nocnego i dobrej bazy wypadowej to najbardziej urokliwych miejsc. Mimo to nie określiłabym samego Phuket jako wspaniałej destynacji.
Phuket is one of the most popular tourist destinations, mainly due to the well-connected airport, famous nightlife and a good base for the most charming places. Even so, I would not describe Phuket itself as a perfect destination.
Pierwsze wrażenie - rozczarowanie / First impression - disappointment
Wymęczeni intensywnym zwiedzaniem Bangkoku oraz podróżą i upałem, nie marzyliśmy o niczym innym, jak o zanurzeniu się w pięknych wodach Morza Andamańskiego. A przecież z Internetu i broszurek wiedzieliśmy, że są tam rajskie plaże!
Tired of intensive sightseeing in Bangkok as well as of the flight and heat, we dreamed of nothing else but plunging into the beautiful waters of the Andaman Sea. And yet we knew from the Internet and brochures that there are heavenly beaches there!

Nie czekając więc na nic zabraliśmy plażowe klamoty i popędziliśmy w kierunku wybrzeża.
A tam...
No cóż, pierwsze wrażenie było takie: o co chodzi? Po co lecieliśmy na drugi koniec świata, skoro znacznie ładniejsze plaże można w Europie spotkać?
So without waiting for anything, we took the beaching stuff and rushed towards the coast.
And there...
Well, the first impression was: what is it? Why did we fly to the other end of the world, when you can meet much nicer beaches in Europe?
Łzy po pierwszym wrażeniu pomogło otrzeć pyszne tajskie jedzenie, w sumie to tylko dla tamtejszej kuchni mogłabym jutro wsiadać w samolot.
Tears after the first impression were wiped easily with the delicious Thai food, in fact, just for the local cuisine I could get on a plane tomorrow.

And the best, believe me, is the street food
Na szczęście już na drugi dzień odnaleźliśmy fajną plażę na Phuket. Co prawda musieliśmy trochę do niej podjeżdżać tuktukiem, ale było warto.
Fortunately, on the second day we found a nice beach in Phuket. It is true that we had to take a tuk tuk to get there, but it was worth it.
Te ładniejsze plaże to Kalim Beach i Karon Beach. Wciąż nie robią takiego szału jak obrazki z internetu lub Karaiby na żywo, ale trochę już czuć, po co się tu przyjechało.
The nicer beaches are Kalim Beach and Karon Beach. They are still not as crazy as pictures from the Internet or the Caribbean live, but you can already feel a bit what you are here for.
Patong
Patong to kiepska plaża, ale bardzo bogate życie nocne. Znajduje się tam tzw. dzielnica czerwonych latarni. Wiadomo o co chodzi. Dla miłośników mniej mocnych wrażeń też znajdą się atrakcje. Jest to długa ulica okraszona barami i dyskotekami, pełna ludzi, tętniąca życiem do późnych godzin nocnych. Jeśli oczekujesz życia imprezowego - Patong pod tym względem na pewno nie rozczarowuje.
Patong is a poor beach but has a very rich nightlife. There is the so-called red light district. You know what's going on there. For those who search for less intense attractions, there will also be fun. It is a long street lined with bars and discos, full of people, bustling with life until late at night. If you are looking for a party life - Patong certainly does not disappoint.
Nam najbardziej przypadła do gustu knajpa z muzyką na żywo, gdzie zespół Kongsiam grał znane zachodnie hity i o dziwo, robił to naprawdę dobrze (choć odbiór jest nieco wspierany za pomocą hojnie lanej tequili).
We liked the pub with live music the most, where the Kongsiam band played famous western hits and, surprisingly, they did it really well (although the reception is slightly supported by generously poured tequila).
Zwiedzanie / Sightseeing
No i płynnie przechodzimy do największej moim zdaniem zalety Phuketu. Duża wyspa, stanowiąca jeden z większych kurortów turystycznych, jest jednocześnie doskonałą bazą wypadową. Na każdym rogu ulicy znajduje się biuro, budka bądź stolik turystyczny, gdzie można wykupić wycieczki. Od razu zaznaczam: tylko i wyłącznie speed boat! Warto dopłacić trochę więcej za komfort szybkiego mknięcia przez wody i zobaczenia większej liczby atrakcji, niż robienia wolnego "pyrtu pyrtu" starą łajbą przez cały dzień z jednym tylko miejscem docelowym.
Wycieczki speedboatem są dodatkowo "all inclusive", co oznacza, że mamy do dyspozycji napoje i przekąski oraz lunch w ciągu dnia.
Jeśli zaś chodzi o ceny, te są oczywiście stanowczo przesadzone, warto ponegocjować, my przy zakupie 2 wycieczek dla 7 osób otrzymaliśmy ogromną zniżkę i jakoś organizatorom się to wciąż opłaciło.
And we move smoothly to the biggest advantage of Phuket in my opinion. A large island, which is one of the largest tourist resorts, is also an excellent starting point for excursions. At every corner of the street there is an office, booth or tourist table where you can buy trips. I point out right away: only speed boat! It is worth paying a little more for the comfort of speeding through the waters and seeing more attractions in a day than making it slowly on an old boat all day with only one destination.
Additionally, speedboat trips are "all inclusive", which means that we have drinks and snacks as well as a lunch during the day.
When it comes to prices, these are obviously definitely exaggerated, it is worth negotiating, we got a huge discount when we bought 2 trips for 7 people and somehow the organizers still paid off.

Skorzystaliśmy z dwóch wycieczek:
1. Ko Phi Phi
Czyli słynna rajska plaża, grająca tytułową rolę w filmie "Niebiańska plaża" z Leonardem DiCaprio. Niestety, doszczętnie zawalona tłumem ludzi; z tego co wiem, obecnie już wycieczki tam nie odbywają się albo są bardzo ograniczone.
Wybierając wariant speedboat mamy do tego nurkowanie z rybkami, podpłynięcie do Monkey Island i lunch na wyspie.
The famous paradise beach, playing the title role in the movie "The Beach" with Leonardo DiCaprio. Unfortunately, it is completely overwhelmed with crowds of people; as far as I know, there are no tours there anymore or they are very limited.
By choosing the speedboat option, we also have fish diving, swimming to Monkey Island and lunch on the island.

2. James Bond Island (Khao Phing Kan)
Druga polecana wycieczka to rejs do James Bond Island, zwanej tak, ponieważ wystąpiła w filmie o Bondzie ("Człowiek ze złotym pistoletem"). Oprócz tej wyspy zwiedzamy też jaskinię, do której należy wpłynąć kajakiem pod skałami, leżąc na płasko, oraz zjadamy lunch w drufującej na wodzie muzułmańskiej wiosce. I tu muszę przyznać, że te dwie poboczne atrakcje bardziej mnie urzekły niż sama James Bond Island.
The second recommended trip is a cruise to James Bond Island, so-called because it starred in the Bond movie ("The Man with the Golden Gun"). In addition to this island, we also visit a cave, which you need to enter by canoe under the rocks, lying flat on the bottom of it, and we have lunch in a Muslim village floating on the water. And here I must admit that these two side attractions captivated me more than James Bond Island itself.

Prawda jest taka, że te wszystkie destynacje można też odwiedzić np. z Krabi. Tam jednak nie dotarłam, a Phuket odwiedziłam dwa razy. Następnym razem będąc w Tajlandii (a jestem przekonana, że jeszcze tam wrócę!), chętnie wpadnę do Krabi, zobaczyć, co tam słychać ;)
The truth is that you can also visit all these destinations from e.g. Krabi. However, I did not get there, and I visited Phuket twice. The next time I'm in Thailand (and I'm sure I'll be there again!), I'll be happy to come to Krabi to see what's going on there ;)
