Claim: Paul wrote it intending it to be the band's next big single (the follow-up to "A Hard Day's Night"), but they ultimately felt it "didn't have what it took" and it ended up as a filler track on the album. It was recorded between September 29th and 30th, 1964, at Abbey Road Studios.

The recording sessions for this song were very lively. Take 6 had to be scrapped because Paul burped mid-recording, and take 7 ended with the entire band in fits of uncontrollable laughter. In addition to the guitars, Paul McCartney added some bass notes played on the piano.
