How far can a community go when a technical action becomes a collective purpose?
That is the question that stays with me when looking at everything that happened between September and the beginning of December within the Hive ecosystem. Each initiative created a direct effect on user behavior. What stands out is that this is not only about metrics, but about signals that show how a community reacts when it has a clear narrative and a shared intention.
Over these three months, several initiatives were launched by HiveCreators using the marketing budget for Latin America. Each one had a different focus: in September, rewarding the action itself; in October, building cultural connection around Power Up; and in November or early December, pushing toward breaking the yearly record. The results speak for themselves.

What the data reveals
Using March 20th, 2025 as a reference point, it is clear that this year surpasses 2024, 2023 and 2022 in total Power Ups.

If we look at the monthly progression for 2025, the chart shows a steady increase starting in September. This jump aligns directly with the HiveCreators initiatives, which shows that a clear and well-executed strategy can influence user behavior in a meaningful way.

September also became the month with the highest number of unique users performing a Power Up in 2025, reaching 262 Hivers who had never done it before.

YEARLY RECORD: 611 users performing Power Up
The most important milestone is that 2025 reached a historic record of 611 unique users powering up. This number had never been achieved before in Hive.
When looking at all the elements together, two key factors appear:
- A favorable token price that encouraged users to see it as a unique buying opportunity to Power Up.
- Marketing initiatives that reignited interest, conversation and community participation.
That combination explains the growth we observed.
The role of marketing in this process
We sometimes think of Power Up as a purely technical action, but in reality, it reflects the type of relationship we want to build with Hive. And like any meaningful gesture, it needs context and a story around it.
What happened between September and November shows that consistent, well-communicated and community-oriented initiatives can influence behavior inside a social blockchain. That is marketing applied to Web3, and it is part of what we aim to develop. The support of the community is essential, and users like @forkyishere have played an important role throughout this process.
Looking ahead to 2026
For 2026, we want to create a stronger structure that allows these actions to scale without losing the community spirit behind them. Three main pillars guide this direction:
A more robust and automated site
- The goal is to improve https://powerup.hivecreators.co/ with clearer metrics, real-time automatically updated data and a better tracking experience.
Smarter incentives
- We want dynamics that reward consistency, interaction and community culture. This is not only about prizes, but about designing a better experience.
Collaborative strategies with the community
- The Power Up should become a collective and ongoing action, not just a monthly campaign.
Closing thoughts
This year leaves us with a powerful reminder: when the community activates, Hive grows. And if we maintain this momentum, we can turn simple actions like the Power Up into long-term pillars that strengthen the ecosystem.
Now we want to hear from you:
What would you like to see in the 2026 initiatives to further boost Power Up participation across Hive?

RECORD DEL AÑO: 611 Usuarios haciendo power Up
Just for reference... no one asked me to do anything. I do these because I enjoy the initiatives and work put into it, and want to help. I have no payment waiting for me nor need one.
This is how it should be everyone. The power is on anyone's hands.
Nice to see other people I know powering up so much! @sagarkothari88 and @hurtlocker. I don't know whom @vanje is... but now I got curious, so I will check him out too.
Cheers
Thank you @forkyishere for the attention! 🙏
I’d like to share briefly why I’m so active on Hive: For me, this blockchain represents something that is becoming increasingly rare - participation, transparency, and a genuine sense of community. Values that matter deeply to me.
I grew up with technology. My early experiences were shaped by curiosity, but also by a bit of fear: What does this change mean for us? What do we lose and what do we gain? And now, interestingly, we’re facing a similar moment again. But this time it’s not about computers or the internet. It’s about the evolving relationship between humans and machines.
That’s why I want to write texts that build a bridge between these worlds: understandable for humans, readable for machines and maybe, someday, meaningful to both.
Hive feels like the right place for that. A space where change doesn’t come from above, but grows from within the community. And that’s exactly what I want to support.
I was spot on following you then. Might need to find an automatic translator, but that's fine for me.
Always nice to meet new people on Hive. It's really something that keeps amazing me even after so many years.
I am always around, so do please forward anything you need against me. I will be honest if it's something not for me, don't worry. 🫡
Yea man for sure it is a good time!
Went ahead and pulled the plug on my downvote project too. That was the longest 20 days of my life on HIVE...... I think we need a giant warning button prompt before anyone clicks the DV button.
It really needs to be understood and people need to be aware of it. Some front ends already have some indication. Like PeakD for example... where there is some RED LETTERS SAYING SOMETHING OF SORTS - or trying to explain at least :D
But others don't have this. For example ecency needs something like that in my view too. Other places adopt a posture of NOT showing downvoting "as possible" and that can be seen both ways.
Technically speaking the options have to be there for balance and because the chain allows them, but realistically only advanced users will really understand when and how to used it. So, the aftermath is that it might be best to actually "hide" it or at least make it less accessible/visible, forcing the user to learn first about it (almost like a learning your powers...), might actually not be a bad idea.
But making it NOT possible to use is probably a no go for me, just because one will eventually have to explain when someone downvotes your post, and learning about it should be something visible (at least that you had downvotes) to a user (for transparency reasons too). For example, on inleo its visible, but then it does not work (not sure what level of LEO I need in order to use it, but it never worked for me), and that alone can be frustrating for a user.
For me it should be like this:
And yes, for most projects anyone can help by doing some code and then submitting an MR. And there are a couple of great people around that I know they can do that, but we also have our lives.
If I had website coding skills I would do a demo from the already available open source ones, and would give it a good trial, so if anyone out there wants to help with something like this, I am happy to facilitate some BEE for it to happen via ATX token (because I have already almost everything there, just need a rewards pool), or if someone wants to do it via their own token, but usually those have already enough support. Or if anyone seeing this comment and wants to copy the idea... I don't care... ping me if you do, cause I wanna try it!
This is an awesome comment!
This is already a discussion someone will come back to, and read because it is interesting and because you clearly care. This is really cool! And I do believe these discussions add value to you, me, and of course HIVE.
Even if I am going to pull back on the downvote project, I will obviously still be open to use the DV in the future because of the balance you described; balance is important.
Circling back to some things you said about down voting. I think hiding the downvote button and making some documentation that it is for advanced users seems like a good idea.
I say this because they are inherently different.
For Example:
• 1% upvote often goes unnoticed
• 1% downvote tends to have some type of reaction
One is way more influential than the other. To me they are not comparable and they are also not inverses of each other. They are very different things and I do think that is pretty interesting.
I hope someone picks you up on some of your ideas. I don't have the skills to do the things you described but tomorrow is a new day. And maybe I will have those skills one day and we can do something cool. Is it likely? Who knows? But it is fun to dream about new things!
This is an amazing initiative. It clearly shows that Hive is now moving toward progress. From September to December, Power Up was not just a technical step but a good movement started. This is the right path as we can see that 611 users set an all-time record.
By the way I really liked this tool. It gives motivation after visiting it. I am looking forward to more upgrades in 2026. Many thanks to the team for working so hard to improve this platform.
A very useful and interesting post.
