I had the same experience when I made my salt out ouf all the peppers I had.
I woke up in the night with "burning hot" hands and put it under cold water.
For over a week I felt imediate pain when touching eyes, nose or mouth.

The next time I used gloves ;-)
You must have made a lot of capsaicin under your finger nails. I kept washing my hands and fingers with soap and water. And soak my hand in milk and cold water. And this work. And ya, next time must wear gloves no matter what.
