Un viaje onírico
Todavía me acuerdo de ese olor a salitre del 2006 en Lechería. Yo ya tenía el destino marcado hacia el frío de Canadá, pero estar frente a los canales de El Morro era otra cosa.
Esta foto es de @lanzjoseg (las mías no quedaron tan brutales y están lejos de mí…). Cuando la veo, lo primero que me choca es el cielo. Qué azul tan intenso, de verdad que uno lo extraña demasiado cuando está rodeado de nieve. Y esos pájaros allá arriba, volando sabroso sin preocuparse por visas, una metáfora perfecta de lo que yo quería en ese momento.

Abajo todo es calma. Las villas, el agua quietecita, algún bote descansando… Es la típica tarde oriental. Veo esa palmera y te juro que siento el calorcito, ese que te abraza y te hace olvidar el frío. Hoy, desde lejos, esta imagen es mi cable a tierra. La tengo guardada en el corazón con la esperanza intacta de regresar, de volver a ver ese sol y de reencontrarme con mi hogar, que aunque lejos, sigue siendo mío.
Y bueno, no es secreto para nadie que Lechería es otra cosa. Siempre ha sido la ciudad más exclusiva, esa burbuja de lujo donde vive la gente más acomodada del país. Ver esas mansiones y los yates estacionados en la puerta de la casa te deja claro el nivel que se maneja ahí; es un entorno imponente que brilla con luz propia.
Un abrazo lleno de bendiciones a la distancia, gracias al amigo @lanzjoseg por su maravillosa toma de esta semana. Añorando el calor de Venezuela, hoy nos encontramos a unos 2 °C, pero esta madrugada les muestro.

A dreamlike journey
I still remember that salty smell from 2006 in Lechería. My destiny was already set for the cold of Canada, but being in front of the canals of El Morro was something else entirely.
This photo is by @lanzjoseg (mine didn't turn out as amazing, and they're far from me...). When I see it, the first thing that strikes me is the sky. Such an intense blue; you really miss it when you're surrounded by snow. And those birds up there, flying gracefully without a care for visas, a perfect metaphor for what I wanted at that moment.

Below, everything is calm. The villas, the still water, a boat resting... It's a typical eastern afternoon. I see that palm tree, and I swear I feel the warmth, the kind that embraces you and makes you forget the cold. Today, from afar, this image is my anchor. I keep it in my heart with the undiminished hope of returning, of seeing that sun again, and of being reunited with my home, which, although far away, is still mine.
And well, it's no secret that Lechería is something else entirely. It's always been the most exclusive city, that luxurious bubble where the wealthiest people in the country live. Seeing those mansions and the yachts moored outside their homes makes it clear what level of living there is; it's an imposing environment that shines with its own light.
Sending a hug full of blessings from afar, thanks to my friend @lanzjoseg for his wonderful shot this week. Missing the warmth of Venezuela, today we're at about 2°C, but I'll show you this morning.
