Sonaba el teléfono y toda la familia estaba atenta. ¿Quién será?, nos preguntaban. A mi abuela, le palpitaba el corazón de alegría, tal vez sea mi hija, quien vivía en la capital.
Aló Bendición, mamá, ¿cómo has estado? Era mi tía, y el corazón de mi abuela se llenaba de paz. Había pasado una semana, desde la última vez que escuchó esa voz que le avisaba que su hija estaba bien, que su familia estaba bien.
Colgaba el teléfono y todos corríamos hacia ella, que te dijo que te dijo, menos el más travieso, que desde la habitación había escuchado la conversación, con solo alzar el otro teléfono.
Después de esa llamada comenzaba la espera, no había fotos, no existían estados de WhatsApp, solo estaba esa esperanza de que pronto el teléfono sonaría nuevamente.
Una espera que, muchas veces, se hacía infinita. Qué difícil debe ser tener a sus hijos lejos de casa, que difícil fue en los tiempos de mi abuela, cuando las redes sociales no estaban ahí para acortar un poco las distancias.
Al fin, sonó el teléfono de nuevo. Mi tía, sonriente, le daba la noticia que estaba esperando: vendría en diciembre y todos gritamos de felicidad, vendrán los primos, susurramos con alegría.
Así fue, después de dos años, llegaron a casa y pasaron todas las navidades . Ese teléfono se mantuvo en silencio, nadie esperaba que sonara. La familia estaba en casa y no existían pantallas que distrajeran la conexión real. Y sí, este fue el mejor teléfono de todos.

After that call, the wait began. There were no photos, no WhatsApp statuses, just the hope that the phone would ring again soon.
A wait that often seemed endless. How difficult it must be to have your children far from home. How difficult it was in my grandmother's day, when social media wasn't there to bridge the distance a little.
Finally, the phone rang again. My aunt, smiling, gave her the news she was waiting for: she would be coming in December, and we all shouted with joy. The cousins are coming, we whispered happily.
And so it was that, after two years, they came home and spent the whole Christmas with us. That phone remained silent; no one expected it to ring. The family was at home and there were no screens to distract us from our real connection. And yes, this was the best phone of all.

Que tiempos aquellos, la verdad que era emocionante cuando sonaba ese teléfono, por lo general era una llamada importante.
Gracias a Dios que a la tecnología ahora nos podemos comunicar mas a menudo, auqnue todavía hay gente que prefiere perderse del mapa y que nisiquiera llaman a su mamá para ver como ha estado.
