Update on funds securing the GLD token

in Great Little Dragonsyesterday (edited)

To be transparent

In case anyone is watching the GLD token and this account which holds GLD to back the token you will have noticed that I removed $100 HBD from the holdings. Why did I remove the money?

Well, a few things are happening.

  1. $5 HBD was sent to @ecohive so he can continue his Hive to Real World investing experiment.

  2. 200 Swap.Hive was sent to @gld.appreciator with the another 500 Swap.Hive to be sent a bit later. Those will be invested into EDSI, SURGE, and possibly PAKX tokens with their dividends being used to purchase GLD tokens to keep a strong buy side for it.

  3. I will be adding $141 CAD ($100 HBD) into mutual funds which I will hold personally. I will treat it as a "loan" to the @gldloan.test and make regular monthly payments back into Hive. The "loan" has been used to purchase a Global Covered Call ETF with a ticket of ZWQT. The idea being that the monthly dividends will purchase HIVE and eventually "pay off" the loan that was made to the account.

Reason: I'm looking into ways that we can use GLD funds to purchase real world investments and have them repay back into Hive. It is still in the investigation stage but I think it would be a fun addition to Hive.

More details to follow but for right now.

If you actually make it down this far here is how I'll be working the loan.

  1. Funds are distributed to an account as HBD
  2. The funds are expected to be invested either into real world tools or real world investments to make some form of income.
  3. Half of the income is expected to be used to purchase HIVE
  4. The HIVE is delegated to @hiveabbyftp
  5. @hiveabbyftp will pay out HBD tokens as a delegation reward to pay off the loan
  6. Funds then become available for the next person in line to get a small loan
  7. And the cycle continues

Sounds like a fair plan. I bought a few more.

I'm currently 25 of 41 holders on the richlist.

Is this the ETF you speak of?

Typo in the post ZWQT. Didn't actually think anyone would see it but it is cool that you did.

It is a mix of a bunch of different covered call ETF's. The general idea is better income with less volatility than typical ETF's. I figure that gives me more money to pump back into HIVE :)

As for holding the token, kind of cool you bought some. Appreciate it. Although just FYI I'll be writing an article about why its the best token you never want to hold :D

Short version, I'm working hard to make sure it has liquidity and it pegs are roughly 1:100 to HBD ... but it doesn't pay any interest, dividend, and if I have any say it will be very stable and boring.

But more on that in another post. Either way... thanks for the response, the upvote and the confidence in actually owning some GLD tokens :)

Thanks for that great information about the ETF and your goals for GLD, I really appreciate this!

I like that we have a lot of different tokens on hive-engine with lots of token creators doing lots of experiments on different ways to add value to the token and to HIVE. I hope your experiment goes well, but even if it isn't perfect we'll all learn something from it.

Thanks for the interaction!

Yeah so many different tokens out there. Some are awesome, some are totally dead and some are kind of scammy. The trick is figuring out what each one does which can be a little daunting sometimes :)

In my mind, there is no good way to figure out which token will do well, in price and/or community building. And whatever does happen on any given day can change on the very next day!

So for me, hive-engine tokens are Just For Fun. I have no expectation of profit. For me, Fun is collecting the tokens and moving up the richlist. Also, showing support to a community I like for any number of reasons but generally because I like the token creator and/or the major token holders. Lastly, it is like buying a lottery ticket. Sure, you might get back more than you start with, but the chances of that are very very rare!

Again, that's just me. Whatever other so with their "money" is up tp them. And I would never say My Way is the best way. To each their own! :)

Haha.... I've sometimes thought about buying dead tokens for less than it would cost to create my own and finding uses for them :) Then again... having one token is enough work for the forseeable future

I kind of did that with RPEPE. I saw a really rare token with just 2005 that could ever exist:

Supply (Circulating / Total / Max)
1700.00027300 / 1700.00027300 / 2005.00000000
Source: https://hive-engine.com/trade/RPEPE

I own over 1300 of them so I can kind of do what I want with it. Thought of making it a stablecoin with a large buy and sell wall 0.0000001 Hive apart.

But I think I'll make my own token one day, just so I can experience it. Thinking of what it could be good for, before I make it though. :)
