My journey of Being one of the main characters of the film "Sugilanon sa Kinabuhi ni San Vicente". I was too nervous at that time since it was my first time acting as the main character, and it was a very big role for me since I was portraying San Vicente. San Vicente is known for his strong religious faith in God. Because of his faith, he can heal many individuals who have different kinds of diseases. It was such a great experience of mine that I will never forget. From the very beginning, I was so nervous since I needed to give justice to what's the main purpose of the main character in this story.

Preparation

The preparation was quite tiring. I spent a lot of time preparing for this, searching for his life, understanding his strong faith, and how I could apply his teachings to the listeners and to all the people who will watch this film. I watched countless videos about his life for me to achieve the role I wanted to portray. I also read some of his books and even spent many days meditating and praying, asking for divine guidance since it's a big role. I also observed the way he spoke to the people and the way he moved so that I could achieve the desire of my director and, of course, the authenticity and grace of this saint who has several people who he helped.

One of the most challenging moments while preparing is memorizing all the lines there of my role. A lot of hard words, but I'm trying my best to portray it very well. San Vicente's humility, compassion, and love for service had to be my number one goal in portraying this character. Every time I memorize the script there's always a line that could give me some reverence since ik just a sinner and San Vicente's life is truly full of goodness. How unworthy I am to portray his role, despite that, I know myself that if I put my love into this, everything will make it happen.

On the day of shooting

This time is very important. I couldn't feel anything but nervous. Standing in front of the camera with a large audience who will critique the flow of my performance is truly inspiring. I really love correction, especially if I want to make it a successful one. My hands were shaking, and my heart was beating too fast what if I forgot the lines? What if I didn't portray my role very well? What if there's something about his attitude that I can never attain?

But as I relaxed for a few moments, I realized why I was chosen to be in this role because I have the potential that everything happens for a reason, and I'm beyond grateful for that. It was such a great reminder for me that it's not about acting. It's about how you introduce yourself to the person who is very dedicated to his service to God and, most especially, his desire to help every individual who is and who is in need. And with that, I took courage and gave my very best in every way possible.

Impact to me

I don't know if you can see the emotions at play here but certainly for me while filming, certainly at one point when San Vicente healed a sick person. Just laying hands on the actor who plays the role of the sick man, you almost feel that you are there in the actual play where the faith of San Vicente has probably healed so many. Just for a little moment, I felt that I was living a very tiny part of his divine mission. At that minute, I would have bet my soul on it faith can certainly move mountains. It really hits differently.

Again, that was the other very solid moment when San Vicente prayed to the Lord for guidance through the hard times. Reciting the lines of that prayer made me feel how similar my very own battles were with those of San Vicente, fear and doubt if it will happen, and showed me just how faith conquers mountains with every trial. That if you have trust in him nothing is impossible. Everything that you want to happen will happen if you have a strong faith in Him. Trust in his mercy, and you will never be failed in every battle you may face.

Beyond Grateful

Looking back, I am indeed very thankful for the opportunity to perform as San Vicente. From what began as a most gut-wrenching experience, through one of the greatest learning experiences of my life, I owe immortal gratitude to the production: my co-actors, the crew, and all the rest who ever believed in me. Above all, I salute God for giving me the strength and wisdom to completely embrace this character role.

That Sugilanon sa Kinabuhi ni San Vicente reaches many people, I hope that the audience will not just see it as a learning experience but also as a testimony to the power of faith. If there is a lesson I've learned along this journey, it is that with faith in God that moves mountains, miracles can be done, and that will remain with me always.
