True forgiveness is not easy to come by these days, especially in this world filled with a lot of pride and haughtiness.
Matthew West wrote "Forgiveness" after being inspired by a true story of a mother who forgave the drunk driver that killed her daughter. The song emphasizes that real forgiveness is a powerful act that frees both the forgiver and the forgiven from the burdens of resentment and pain.
I recently saw a meme and what was written there was "I'll keep forgiving you till I buy gun", now it was very funny, I know it's just cruise catching but I also had to think deeply about it. That is what really happens, most people hold grudge deep down in their heart while they pretend to forgive others.
Another song I listened to defined what true forgiveness really means, part of it says that "Forgiveness means you don't bring it back up". Yes, that is how true forgiveness should be. But we see the opposite of this today in the world, when someone offends another person, even begs for forgiveness, most times they pretend to forgive the person and next time when the person does any little thing he brings up the past mistake again.
There is also a case whereby someone offends another unknowingly, now instead of letting the person know, the offended decides to carry it in his heart, waiting for the right time to retaliate, or most times they just stop talking to the person or they start to behave awkwardly towards the person.
Now the offender doesn't even know that he has offended someone so he's not carrying any burden in his heart, but the other person holds deep grudges and it hurts him.
But there is also another case when someone hurts us, he knows that he has hurt us, but he refuses to apologize. In this case, many have decided to not forgive the person until he apologizes, but the truth is the world is full of pride and arrogance and we have to accept our home as it is but learn how to deal with difficult situations that we see, We can really decide to let go of the offense. This is the hardest choice, and this is often because of the pride in us as humans, which is natural. But we should always think of the consequences of our actions we want to take, isn't it easier to let go?
I have heard so many stories where a brother killed another brother, there was one that happened in our neighborhood that a woman used knives to beat her maid and she mistakenly stabbed her. All these are due to accumulated grudges, these plots do not start in one day.
Yes most times we're filled with so much anger from an offence of another person, what has helped me is the deep breathing exercise and prayer to God, always praying for calmness of heart.
Yes forgiveness is love, a very powerful kind of love. Is it love for ourself, love for another person and even love for God.
When we are free at heart, then our soul, body and mind will be free. We will be able to think smoothly, act positively and enjoy life as it is!
Imagine if God should hold grudges for humans just as we do for our fellow humans, it will be disastrous for us. True forgiveness doesn't remember the past and use it for the presence. Although, it might be difficult to forget but not for you to always remember it and act on it presently. Forgiveness is a sign of love and we should embrace it knowing that humans are full of imperfections

Forgiveness is simple but hard. Some wrongdoings are easier to be forgiven than others. When the pain is too heavy, forgiveness becomes very difficult. However, forgiveness lightens the heart. It makes one happier and healthier. If everyone has the heart of forgiveness, no one would intentionally hurt the next person. The world would be better for it.

One thing I enjoy about forgiveness is that one would be free in body, soul and spirit and there is this peace that transcends all things. This is what I aim for which makes me forgive quickly. Aside that, I try to remember how God forgives even the biggest of sins we have committed, how much more humans.
