RE: Are inspirations, lessons and games getting back on track?

Ah yes, the Waltz No.2 - such a beautiful piece indeed.

You know funny story about this piece: apparently, when Shostakovich was being pressured by the Soviet to write more jazz like music, Shostakovich upon analyzing a jazz manuscript he had just purchased, ended up composing this waltz as a sort of Jazz piece. Hence those sax solos in the original orchestra version.

Clearly, this sounds nothing like jazz though😂! Regardless, the music still bares that strong vibe of Russian to it - beautiful nonetheless.

Oh and about that game of yours... Brilliant! What a fun way to combine music theory and fun time! However, I am way too lazy to count evERY SINGLE bar for 3 MINUTES straight! Hopefully, someone diligent enough gets the job done.

Not sure what piano transcription you played from though, but much like you said, it would be a little difficult for someone to cheat. For example, in another piano transcription I read for the same piece, there was a little coda section with heavy tremolos in the left hand. So, yeah...

Just keep calm and count people!

lol, I know 😂
And knew maybe no one would do it. That's why I said, my advice is just to guess roughly hahaha

Well, clearly you hear that there are things, or there are maybe missing things, so knowing the real number, and doing some maths you could have a very close guess :D

Hmm, didn't know about the "jazz pressure" but indeed, the saxophone sounds a bit weird or clumsy. I would just listen to it with strings and be happy with it :))

So, the lesson part is reserved for you!

Thanks for the inspiration that made me remember Shostakovich and his waltz for this edition of my guessing games :)

Oh yeah, the jazz pressure thing is quite true. Basically, Shostakovich hated jazz but Stalin loved the genre and threatened him with death if he didn't write more of them, and so on and so forth really...😅

Hmm... Okay then! I'll make an educated guess and say there are well over 120 bars in the entire 3 minute piece. NOW WHERE'S MY PRICE? :)

Also, don't mention it! My pleasure.

Your educated guess will be taken into account {thank you for making it 😇} though we will have to wait a few days to find out the truth... 😁

I see soooooo many people waiting around the corner to count the strong beats of the measures lol 😂

edit: I forgot to quote this earlier

Just keep calm and count people!

Hilarious!
I think everyone will stick to the first part of your sentence 😂

Guessing can bring interesting results. Thanks for participating in this contest, even a little push was needed 😉 Turns out @mipiano played 181 bars. There were four contestants in total and your count with 120 bars finished closest. Congrats! Soon-ish check your wallet 🙃

🥂🥂🥂 thank you for announcing the winner of this GG edition!!

I am joining the congratulations to @zeraton 🥳

I didn't win the lottery with those numbers you gave me that other time :)

But I'll take this reward! Thank you!

Oh, sorry that the numbers didn't work out. Maybe we should keep up with trying to win the lottery with the same numbers, maybe they will be the right ones somewhere in the future :D

Ouu... I like the way you think!

My thoughts exactly. I'll keep going!

Oh snap, I might be about two months late but THANK YOU!!!

For some reason, I didn't see the message or missed the tag somehow.

Oh well...
