In Patagonia and in summer the days get longer and the darkness of the night takes a long time to arrive.
It is a beautiful time to enjoy the outdoors and at night go for a walk in the park and look at the stars. The lack of artificial light allows us to see the Milky Way, our closest galaxy, in all its splendor and grandeur. This vision of space and the sky covered with stars surprise the habitual inhabitant of large cities where this spectacle is blocked by excessive lighting on the surface.
Insects swarm everywhere and some birds take the opportunity to hunt them when they, clouded by the few artificial lights, approach and fly over as magnetized by the lampposts of the complex.
Further on is the great Futalaufquen lake, the first and one of the largest in the lake complex that as a whole make up the Los Alerces National Park. It brings coolness on a hot night and the steps serve as makeshift seats for an informal chat with friends.
In another sector a bonfire is observed, someone is cooking and the murmur of voices is lost in the dark, other people also enjoy the night, friendship, and recreation in the torrid summer heat that the shade brings at these hours.
The peace of this moment is indescribable, it is enough to continue talking and enjoying but we have to rest, the next day a long way awaits us to reach another beautiful place and enjoy the water of the lake, fishing, and pleasant chat.
Holidays are the break from a hard and difficult year of work and confinement, I wish they would never end.
En la Patagonia y en verano los días se alargan y la oscuridad de la noche tarda en llegar.
Es una hermosa época para disfrutar del aire libre y por las noches salir a caminar por el parque y observar las estrellas. La falta de luz artificial nos permite ver la Vía Láctea, nuestra galaxia más cercana, en todo su esplendor y grandiosidad. Esta visión del espacio y del cielo tapizado de estrellas sorprende al habitante habitual de las grandes ciudades donde ese espectáculo nos está bloqueado por el exceso de iluminación en la superficie.
Los insectos pululan por doquier y algunas aves aprovechan para cazarlos cuando éstos, obnubilados por las escasas luces artificiales, se acercan y sobrevuelan como magnetizados por las farolas del complejo.
Más allá se encuentra el gran lago Futalaufquen, el primero y uno de los más grandes del complejo lacustre que forman en su conjunto el parque Nacional Los Alerces. Aporta frescura en la noche calurosa y las escalinatas sirven de improvisados asientos para la charla informal entre amigos.
En otro sector se observa una fogata, alguien está cocinando y el murmullo de voces se pierde en la oscuridad, otras personas también disfrutan de la noche, de la amistad y del recreo en el tórrido calor del verano que la sombra trae en estas horas.
La paz de este momento es indescriptible, da para seguir conversando y disfrutando pero hay que descansar, al otro día nos espera un largo camino para llegar a otro hermoso lugar y disfrutar del agua del lago, de la pesca y de la charla amena.
Las vacaciones son el descanso a un duro y difícil año de trabajo y confinamiento, quisiera que no terminaran nunca.
