Let's say for example, that a city or municipality decide to implement smart-meter tech so they would contract with a company who offers the "best deal." In practice the government ends up making agreements with a corporation that reserve the right to refuse services if certain conditions are not met. They are stories in previous years in which a whole arrange of smart meters remained inoperable due to complications between company & local government. Behind that facade is the political corruption in which smart tech companies corrupt local politicians with bribes so they can secure the "deal." This leaves the public at a disadvantage, and produces the lowest quality products at the higher costs.
That's messed up! Understandable, but messed up!! One of the only good things that a capitalist system does, is to incentivize competition, and this removes that advantage while including all the disadvantages of a capitalist system...
