... million 1byte files on my storage cluster. But, the ceph cluster didn't blink! I'm deleting files now, but it's only doing a few hundred a second. Well, Ceph is resilient.

Dropbox would have freaked out. I know that because it has difficulty dealing with my half a million files. They mention that limit in their documentation. I had to remove some files from the backup or make them online-only.

I'm tar'ing my files into an archive, compressing, encrypting and then splitting them into 20GB chunks for upload offsite. It's a backup, so I don't need live files. That makes it both smaller in size/entries. I like dropbox for live files though.
