That sounds right! Anarchists like to point to medieval Iceland as an anarchy success story, but it really only seems to work in primitive societies. Once people get some real wealth built up, they always shift to something other than anarchy.
Iceland is a god example. As generalization of the idea, I would argue that the absence of government is equal to (land) property absolutism. Your land is your kingdom, your house is your castle and your possessions are your treasure. Everyone who wants to use or take it has to do under your unconditional authority, or face consequences.
That's why, if you look at the political compass map, its bottom end is by no means pure anarchy, but it ends where the top end begins. It's not a 2-dimensional spectrum, but a loop with usually violent phase transitions. Plato's description of this process still holds up.
It's unfortunate that this shortened version of the process has come to such prominence (especially since the creators are far-leftists...). People don't understand that your personal world view is not fixed as different eras have different problems.
Someone who is on the left Libertarian end of things during one phase can legitimately be on the right Authoritarian end during another. This, without losing his personal compass, as different problems demand different solutions to find a new temporary equilibrium that reflects one's personal view.
The way things are framed right now in this regard, it becomes easy to dismiss someone as crazy or unhinged, although they simply came to the conclusion that a different approach is necessary in order to hold up a preferred societal system.
