It is scary how so many apps depend on services and libraries which jeopardize their users' privacy. Even the privacy and crypto oriented ones get caught up frequently leaking confidential information. But I'm most worried about keyboard apps.
It is mostly functionality based, because of AppStore and Playstore being centralized, app doesn’t necessarily share that info.
For example you can use lock and unlock feature to encrypt with fingerprint or faceid, that’s coming from device, app doesn’t have access to it and cannot share anything sensitive.
Other like camera to be able to record video or picture for uploading, user has control over when to use those features or not.
Bugsnag is bug tracking, doesn’t have user specific data only when app crashes it gives info to developers to fix those bugs but no user info is included there.
Anyway, all these just means we need alternative way to install apps. Ecency is opensource and I trust it above anything closed source because nobody can tell what info they taking, while I know Ecency is accountable and anybody can check their code to tell if something is wrong
