DBuzz App Still Makes 75% HP/25% HBD.

in DBuzz3 years ago

Quick note: The Hive Power/HBD split in the DBuzz app is 75% HP and 25 HBD. One of the big promoters of the app, denied it was like that. Eventually devs said they would fix that to be 50/50 but it is still like this.

If you're curious how post rewards are being broken down, navigate over to https://www.proofofbrain.blog . Login and setup your settings. You'll be able to see if a post has been limited to a certain payout amount, if there is a self-vote, and how the post rewards are broken down. In the DBuzz community, you will see 75% HP.

Normally you can choose 100% HP, or 50% HP when you make posts via most all front-ends with the exception of DBuzz. DBuzz splits the difference, perhaps it is intentional now that it works this way.

The Hive Dollar is very well pegged. There is no economic reason to do one or the other except the 50% HP gives you the best liquidity.

But we can't set this on dBuzz. 🤔 I didn't understand anything, this is a very interesting thing.

That's what we thought too, but @leprechaun later proved he was right.

  • I thought we fixed it.

But it may have gotten lost in all of the bug fixes we were doing. (D.Buzz has been fixing bugs since April/May of 2022).

Thank you @leprechaun I'm following up now.

I thought we fixed this already.

And was surprised to see that it was possible months ago when we realized it was, and am surprised again to see we have not yet fixed it.

  • Let me follow-up and ensure we get this fixed.

I'm glad I could point it out for you. I was beginning to think it was intentional. Fields with the deceptive names that include the word 'percent' often mean 'per-ten-thousand'. In the case of setting reward types, it is per-ten-thousands between 50/50 and 100/0. The value 10,000 means 50/50 and 0 means 100% HP or maybe it's the other way around. Anyway 5,000 means 75%HP/25 HBD. That's the mistake. The value 5,000 looks like it should mean 50%/50% here because that is what it means everywhere else in the APIs. In a way it means 50% between the 50/50 and 100/0. It think the field was hbd_percent, so you probably want 10,000.

It's odd.. I think we may have originat had it set at 10,000 but changed it due to feedback.

  • We should have it all fixed now or very soon.

I will follow-up again.

It could be:

  • One of your developers actually think it is a good idea to have a 75%HP split.
  • One of the devs saw 10,000; misinterpreted that to mean something it doesn't and then set it to 5,000.
  • Merging is a complicated process and old code can sometimes overwrite new code when adding an unrelated feature.

Communicate to cover the three concerns. Comments in code: "//" is your friend. 😊 Other forms would quickly be forgotten but to have these comments where you set it to 50/50, should help at least the first two of the possible vectors for another regression.

  1. It's definitely not due to our developers thinking 75% is a good idea.
  • I am hands on with our devs, they are my friends, and we share the same values.
  1. As far as I know, someone gave us incorrect advice about setting it to 5,000, with the intention of fixing a "75%" issue.
