I don't have a noise cancelling headphone, but I do try to listen to recorded music and nature sounds to cope. It's still annoying though because I can still hear or feel them in the background unless I turn up the volume so much which will have its own negative effect 😭

Yes, at some point our ears need a break from all noise.

What abou adding thick curtains to your windows to buffer some of the noise? Is there a small room or walk-in closet you can turn into a noise buffered room? Tack moving blankets or regular blankets to the walls. It will not sound proof the room, but it can buffer the amount of sound coming in from the outside.
