Instead, I think it might be more logical to download an operating system with a cracked source code to any phone. 😀

Sure if you don't want / can't buy new phone then that's a good option. You'll need to research the alternative custom roms available and seek advice on that from privacy forums to help.

I found a brand new boxed pixel 7a with 2 yr warranty for $350. i may not even use a simcard

Don't do it. No way. iphones are very bad.

With android you can use a privacy OS

Even if I wanted to, I couldn't because iPhones are too expensive here.

For encrypted email, to stop the bad guys spying on you. I only use encrypted email.
