The Price to Win a Piece

in DBuzzlast month

This is the solution to today's problem on the Chess.com platform. This problem is called "The Price to Win a Piece". We start from a position where Black is attacking with the rook that is aligned with the queen in the same file. After White plays knight g1, Black plays rook xf2. Next White's king captures the rook and Black then plays bishop d4, checking the king and forcing him to move back to f1. After this, Black plays queen e3, threatening to give checkmate, but when White plays knight h3, he puts an end to that possibility. Black has lost a rook for nothing.
