On D.Buzz, both upvoted and downvoted posts are shown with a glowing heart icon which confused me 😮

in DBuzz4 years ago

I noticed that when I downvoted posts using a Hive front-end other than #DBuzz then went to the D.Buzz front-end, I saw the heart icons glowing. 😮 I thought that in the entire time I was downvoting, I was upvoting posts which I planned to be downvoted. 😐

Yes, its a bug probably. It reads downvotes as 'negative payout' upvotes.

It's still a vote so it's just an indicator that you voted on it 🗳

A downvote is a dislike (regarding anything on the post downvoted) and should not be represented by the same heart used for upvoting. 🤔 I got confused for a moment before I realized the problem. 😐

It's a vote 😆 dbuzz has chosen to represent a vote with a heart, so there you go 🤷‍♂️ I'm pretty sure you would need to fork the blockchain to display downvotes as a separate tally, seems like a lot of work for a graphical display ♥️

you would need to fork the blockchain

I just wanted D.Buzz not to display the glowing heart icon and just ignore the count of downvotes. Can't I just make my feedback to @dbuzz without being suggested to fork the blockchain? 😐

@chrisrice

I think we will add a downvote feature @theb0red1?

  • And it won't require a hardfork, just a front-end change @savvyplayer.

It's not a problem, just something to be aware of. Most front ends you can click the vote tally and see who voted what (+/-). Dbuzz doesn't let you see that info though.

I already knew I could use other Hive frontends to see the downvotes on a post, like when I used #Ecency to downvote the reward farming posts and see which posts I have downvoted so far. 😐

What front end did you use?

Posted via D.Buzz

I used the #Ecency front-end. They show posts upvoted by you with a blue caret, and posts downvoted by you with a red inverted caret. 🙂

Ahh, that's interesting.

  • You weren't upvoting any @dbuzz posts if you were downvoting from other front-ends.

But it does look like you and others are right, we need to add downvotes.

You weren't upvoting any @dbuzz posts if you were downvoting from other front-ends

I can easily verify that by just looking at my account on HiveBlocks. My concern is about my downvoted posts showing up on D.Buzz just as if they were upvoted. 🤨

Ah okay, yeah, we will get to that.

  • This last two weeks has been a bit slower, dev wise.

But the speed will increase back to normal again, starting next week.
