Until recently, it was believed that electric trucks would never be economically viable. However, sales of the Tesla Semi will begin this year, which is more economical than diesel trucks.

IIRC Elon Musk said these trucks will be cheaper than rail transportations. With added flexibility of routes its dumb not to buy.
