„The death of Jesus in the cross was necessary?“
- No, of course not. Why?
„We are losing the sanctity of human life.“
- Who? Hamas and other terrorists? Yes. I do not. Israel does not. They protect civilians to the best of their ability (though it is difficult if terrorists hide within hospitals or kindergartens).

The death of Jesus had a bigger purpose.

You are saying that the death of the children was necessary because it had a "noble" purpose looking into the future.
„ You are saying that the death of the children was necessary because it had a "noble" purpose looking into the future.“
Hamas did not kill its own children, they only provoked Israel to see if it would dare to do so, and it did.
Only "provoked"? They slaughtered Israel's people, including children. They executed children with intent. And, Hamas "fighters" put their children between them and their enemies, putting these children into harms way.
So Israel is responsible to protect its citizens no matter what? If it is nevessary to kill thousands of children it will be done. The end justify the means.
"So Israel is responsible to protect its citizens no matter what?"
"The end justify the means."
And concerning the myth of "innocent civilians" in Gaza, I recommend reading @apshamilton: https://peakd.com/gaza/@apshamilton/gazans-are-not-victims-of-hamas-they-are-the-crucible-that-created-the-monster
If I have a neighbor family with kids and the father of them threats me with a gun, i have the right to kill him, not the entire family.
And if my neighbor provokes me to kill his children for instance, and I do so, I am still the main responsible for it. So even if Hamas provoked Israel to slaughter children, Israel is still the main culprit for the abhorrent crime.

if I see that he is capable of that, I will avoid killing the innocents and wait for the appropriate moment to kill only him.

Even if Hamas uses children as shields, that does not allow me to kill the children freely.
