Montauk---yes. At the tip of Long Island. Beautiful there. I have stayed a couple of times at a beach motel in Montauk. Funny, they have a vacation community and year-round residents that make a living from the sea, and tourism. Long Island is a beautiful place. Fragile because we get our water from an aquifer, which is slowly becoming contaminated--not so slow in some places. Also, rising sea levels. Not where I am so much (pretty high elevation), but one day the south shore will be gone.

Well, that's more than you wanted to know, isn't it? :))

No I found it interesting! It's a place I've read about but it's far more interesting to hear from real people who have lived there. It does seem beautiful and your photos also suggest it truly is! A shame about the water, both potable and sea levels. I was reading today about India and how in some places they are renovating these huge wells - I'm not sure what you call them exactly - that have been used as rubbish disposal to clean them and use them again as water sources. Necessity is the mother of invention, they say.

Oh! Stepwells they're called. Quite beautiful. Of topic perhaps but thought you'd find them interesting
