No, I think it's a dictionary problem. I looked at 3 dictionaries for "grandson" and "nephew" and I'm getting "nipote" every time, in either case. Same thing with German. That surprised me. Are there no separate terms in Italian?

in italiano è lo stesso nipote per zio o nonno come in German or English. I nipoti non valgono nulla!
