Hi friends, today I'd like to show you three small experimental paintings where I have tried to combine textured acrylics with an alcohol ink background. As I wanted to use rather low viscosity metallic paints, I had to figure out a simple way how to get the desired texture - preferrably with materials on hand.
Rummaging around the studio, I found some coarse marble dust which I sometimes use to texture gesso for my acrylic pourings. So I took a few tablespoons of this marble dust and ground it to a very powdery consistency with a mortar and pestle. I stirred the dust into my metallic paints and painted my motif with this mixture.
The "marbley metallics" dry to a raised structure, almost like those heat-embossed business cards we're all familiar with. An interesting juxtaposition to the utterly smooth finish of the alcohol ink background! I will explore this further in the future; this was just an experiment to find out how this kind of thing would look and feel.
Hallo Freunde, heute möchte ich euch drei kleine experimentelle Bilder zeigen, bei denen ich versucht habe, strukturierte Acrylfarben mit einem Hintergrund aus Alkoholtinte zu kombinieren. Da ich eher dünnflüssige Metallic-Farben verwenden wollte, musste ich einen einfachen Weg finden, um die gewünschte Textur zu erhalten - am besten mit Materialien, die ich gerade zur Hand hatte.
Beim Herumstöbern im Atelier fand ich etwas groben Marmorstaub, den ich manchmal verwende, um Gesso für meine Acrylgüsse zu strukturieren. Also nahm ich ein paar Esslöffel dieses Marmorstaubs und mahlte ihn mit einem Mörser und Stößel zu einer sehr pulverigen Konsistenz. Ich rührte den Staub in meine Metallic-Farben und malte mein Motiv mit dieser Mischung.
Die "marmorisierten Metallicfarben" trocknen zu einer erhabenen Struktur, fast wie diese heißgeprägten Visitenkarten, die wir alle kennen. Ein interessanter Kontrast zu der völlig glatten Oberfläche des Hintergrunds aus Alkoholtinte! Ich werde mir das in Zukunft näher ansehen; dies war nur ein Experiment, um herauszufinden, wie so etwas aussehen und sich anfühlen würde.
I used a mortar and pestle to finely pulverize some marble dust.

The metallic paints on their own exhibit no texture at all.
Die Metalicfarben an sich haben überhaupt keine Textur.
They only become viscous and creamy after the marble dust is added.
Erst durch Zumischung des Marmorstaubs werden sie dick und sämig.
As the paint is drying the marble dust clumps up, creating an interesting texture.
Wenn die Farbe trocknet, verklumpt sich der Marmorstaub und schafft eine interessante Struktur.

Danke dir auch fuer das reblog :) Stimmt. Experimente machen Spass und manchmal kommt was dabei raus. Ich habe so ein Texture noch nie gesehen ausser bei ganz dicke Acrylfarbe aber das trocknet anders. Schade das ich das Gesicht in #2 erst erkenne als ich es schon mit die florale Motif versaut habe :( Das haette was richtig gutes werden koennen. Experimente koennen gefaehrlich sein :)

Dankeschoen :) Nein, kein Perfektion. Alcohol ist neu fuer mich und ich uebe immer wieder. Da kommen dann so Muster raus die man nur als background verwenden kann. Die heb ich auf und manchmal experimentiere mit denen. Hier die metallic Blumen haben gar kein Verbindung zum Hintergrund. Sind einfach nur in die Mitte gesetzt, nicht graphisch, nicht logisch. War eben nur ein Test aber trotzdem noch irgendwie huebsch :)
