RE: DIY, Scope Creep, and Looking Forward

Oh no! It's unbelievable what you find once you start opening the walls up. Our last house was built in 1923 and was actually pretty solid but my previous house was from 1940 and it was a hot mess. We discovered it was subsidized by 3M to provide housing for their workers and it was probably built way too fast.

Thanks! The search has been eye-opening to say the least. I just can't believe how expensive everything is here but we have to get out of the city. It's getting to the point where we can't even open the windows because it's so loud outside. You know me well! That Level 2 charger will be the first thing I install. Lol.

My wife and I have been looking for something new for a while now. We eventually want to get into a single story home. I'd prefer a craftsman style, but if we have to go with a ranch or something like that I don't really mind. We just know eventually we won't be able to handle all the steps. Like you said though, prices are horrible everywhere. I'd like something with a bit of land, but anything that is decent is either way out of our price range or gets snapped up right away. It's just stagnant out there after that huge Covid boom.

The craftsman style is my favorite. Our last house was one of the Sears craftsman kit homes. It’s really a timeless design. The market is the same way here but is beginning to cool
down, less bidding wars and (slightly) decreasing prices. We’re looking at a couple later today that we really like so hopefully one of these will be “the one”. Best of luck in your search!

I hope one of them works out for you! When we bought our last house we looked for a solid year before we finally found the one. It wasn't what we were looking for, but the location was amazing. If we could just demolish and build again on our current lot, we probably would I think.
