Fly the Friendly Harbour Skies

Founded in 1982 Harbour Air flies to coastal communities that include the many islands that cover this side of the province. Its beginnings were humble, and now its operations have expanded to more majestic destinations.

I took this video overlooking Coal harbour from where the seaplanes take off. I spent a bit of time there trying to catch a good video, and now I have a sudden desire to visit the islands. What a trip that would be!

The panel in the picture details the story that gave rise to an old airline called Queen Charlotte Airlines (QCA) in 1945. As many stories go, this one began when pioneer, adventurer, inventor, and entrepreneur Jim Spilsbury got tired of the long boat journeys along the coast and decided to solve the problem by getting himself a float plane. In a feat of excellent business acumen and timing, he was soon flying passengers and electronic goods across the ocean. Thus, giving rise to what became Canada's third-largest airline, QCA.

I really enjoy the sound of the planes for some reason (though I wouldn't want to live too close to the action). I hope you enjoyed this post today. It was a pleasure to have you aboard. Thank you for flying along and until next time.

Excellent video, @litguru. It shows the dedication and time you spent waiting at the harbour to capture the perfect takeoff shot. A very warm greeting.

Thank you, @solorzanot. It was a nice way to spend the afternoon checking out these excellent machines.
