The costs were also impressive - $ 750 million was spent on the construction of the reinforced concrete structure. "Ryugyon" even got on Korean postage stamps and tourist maps of Pyongyang. However, due to technical difficulties, the project was not completed on time and the opening was postponed to 1992, which was also canceled due to lack of materials. No communications were made inside the building. Of course, the window blocks were not installed either.

Later in 2008, the project was funded by a foreign telecommunications company, in return, the owners had to install a cellular station on the roof of the hotel. Not a bad deal. After that, the deadline was set for 2012. Everything went according to plan, Ryugion was completely covered with mirror panels.

By the time, as once in 2017, there was a sudden boil of work. And in a year this hotel has another new destination. Thousands of LED lamps were installed on its facade. So it turned into a huge screen. When significant events take place in the city, a 4-minute video dedicated to the history of North Korea is scrolled.

Цей матеріал з самого початку не підходив для хмарочоса, а зриви термінів лише підлили олії в вогнище. Проте попри всі фактори, експерти зробивши ревізії завірили усіх в абсолютній безпечності готелю.

Розуміючи, що це мав бути величезний прорив в будівництві для Північної Кореї і він потребував неймовірно багато інвесторів, було дивно надіятися, що сума набереться за такий короткий час. Дійсно проєкт має настільки багато нюансів та особливостей, що завершити таку колосальну роботу за 2 роки просто неможливо. Чи ж дійсно власники були настільки наївні?
На побудову звичайного житлового комплексу потрібно 2-3 роки. Без жодного внутрішнього дизайну.
А для такого проекту, якщо безперервно, то напевно до 10 років точно.

Як на мене зупинки та відкладення дуже негативно вплинули на якість та вигляд готелю. Індустрія йшла вперед, а переробити вже не було як. Якби вони зібрали кошти, а пізніше почали будівництво, тоді й проєкт був би сучаснішим та прогресивнішим.
