I think this amazing sky over the Bay was actually taken on the 18th or possibly earlier in the week. I was late going out that day so went to the Undercliff where I knew it would get safe to walk, even with the light failing.
I never really understood the Bay as a child. It was beyond the last beach with the tidal paddling pool and the rocks, so beyond my ken.
Now, as an adult, I'm endlessly fascinated by the changing sky, the rise and fall of the tide. At the end of the promenade you can scramble down the sea defences to the beach, or take a more lady-like route down the steps behind me and trek over the rocks.
I was doing neither yesterday. The morning was spent chatting to my sister while she repaired the shower (it needed a new thermostatic unit), tidying the caravan and loading to car for the journey north.
It was a pleasant drive, no queues, roadworks or other dalliances. I stopped halfway to see a friend and have dinner. I was glad I did that. He's a shambling wreck now, there may not be many other chances.
