Spring Comes to Hunter Valley House : September 9 2022

in Actifit2 years ago (edited)

Rained a lot all night - heard it off and on - not feeling too chipper for a day of house clearing stuff. Hard to get my head around what is needed and not needed.

Flowers from the garden herald spring - jasmine

One job I do know I have to do is leave the garden in a somewhat tidy space. Also know that as budburst is just beginning the window for using chemicals is closing. Rain put paid to using those today anyway

So I spent a huge slice of the day pulling weeds on the edges of the driveway. This is a defence system to stop them spreading into the lawns and also a way to keep my head clear. The Queen's passing hit my emotions - she was married the year my parents were. And she died in the week of the anniversary of my mother passing - at the same age of 96. She has been my Queen since I became a British Citizen in 1978 as part of my process of exiling myself from the South African regime

More spring flowers - these grow right next to the house

The other slice of emotion is thinking about the move from this house. I have been here for 20 years and lived here full time for some time in 2006 and 2007. It is the longest I have been anywhere - even my childhood home.

We did go into town for a little shopping and to drop stuff off at the charity shop.

Banksia rose against the blue sky did survive the pruning a few weeks ago

Qumquat blossom - the tree has doubled in size coming into this spring. Lots of rain has helped

Clivia is also booming.

Then back to garden work - the sun did come out. Got me to thinking about using chemicals and then the storm brewed up.

Did get up on a ladder ahead of the rain and cleared out gutters over the car port - hard working above my head with ladder resting on a single pole - did it safely though.

Big day mostly sitting on the ground pulling weeds.

Dinner: Did BBQ under the starry sky as the storm had passed. Could see 5 planets and a nearly full moon. I still call Pluto a planet.

When I put the bbq away the cloud was back

Trade action: Adjusted hedging trades. Book profits on QQQ shorts. Add to TLT shorts to protect profits. Open new shorts on Europe - VGK.
