Started out a rainy morning. Had in my mind to do two things. Go looking for midge orchids and hitting some more golf balls. Did a little investing stuff first off and then headed out to Ku-ring Gai Chase NP to look for midge orchids. Got to say I do not enjoy doing this by car - the move price. At least the car did start
Some summer colour in the bush - NSW coral heath - epacris pulchella
Purple fringe flower - a colour of summer
New growth on banksia serratum. Midge orchids were the mission
Especially this one - brittle midge orchids - one of only 13 sites. A few more flowers this year spread a bit further apart
This one just closing up shop
Genoplesum baueri - the only flower in the new genus classification
Flower is tiny and close to the ground - 2 inches off the ground - sepals are maybe 7 mm long. Labellum is no more than 3 mm
Did find 4 plants flowering. Leaf held as backdrop helps with focus
Fringe midge orchid seeded on the other side the track
4th plant - different backing leaf
Twin fringe lilies. Was windy - hence.
missing the flowers fully in the frame
Pale flax lily - also tiny. I cannot see those yellow beads with the naked eye
Leptsospermum just starting - the pink version
Triplets
This little flower is really hard to photograph as the petals are tiny. Normally they are lined up alternately on the stalk. This one had a cluster of flowers - camera could find a focal point. Stackhousia is its name
Back to Kalkari Track - banksia flower forming - pin needles behind for ID
Hibbertia
A different banksia - leaves are larger and not serrated
Forming up version shows the leaves
Seeded fringed midge orchid
Bonnet orchid down low - cryptostylis subulata
A few purple fan flowers
And the next part of the mission - Rupp's midge orchid - easy to spot with the flash of burgundy on top a 6 inch spike
Corunastylis ruppii
A touch of iridescent blue always pops - Botany Bay diamond weevil
Only the 2nd bonnet orchid still going - lots seeded
Tongue orchid - cryptostylis subulata - weevil been at it
A little yellow - pine leafed geebung
pea flower
Heard a rustle - spot the echidna time
Mushrooms near the car park
Good walk - 5 orchids found and more baueri than last season
Dinner - Thai crab fried rice
Trade action: Bought SGM.AX, MYS.AX. Adjusted CHPT options
