Wake to a grey day in Shoalhaven Heads. Not raining - forecast was for rain. Good for the drive back to Sydney - left a bit earlier than we usually do
Orchids we got from our friend a few weeks have opened up. A small pink version of a crucifix orchid
Road stayed dry right until we reached Sydney suburbs - good news as the drive up Mt Ousley in the wet is horrid. Glad I was not driving - tired after a late night up when US markets opened.

Low key day planned. Walked to shops to get some essentials - was raining steadily then
Rain just got worse. Caught the train into the city to meet up with a cycling friend from Germany. Planned to go to Arthouse Hotel - one of the funky venues in town. Got there to find it closed for some filming event. Walked through my wife's old office foyer to a bar behind - being redeveloped. Tried the next cross alley - boring. Landed up going back to one of the old style pubs - Criterion Hotel. Busy. Got a table and walked back to find my friends.
As it happens we could not have chosen much better. There was a bit of an Irish jam session happening. 4 blokes playing guitar and banjo - became a lady with a flute and a good voice - then the drummer and accordion and more voices.
Food was mediocre - prices were high but we had a good evening.
Was pouring with rain for the train ride home. Glad we drove to the station rather than walk
Stayed up late for US markets open - good to see a strong US jobs report - made the market feel happy
